Too be honest with you all the files i own date back 20-30 years, I havent bought a file in forever. I can only comment on some Bahco stuff that i own, of course none of which are files but they seem like good tools. Bahco is somehow related to Snap On and $40 bucks doesnt seem out of line for that variety of files with Handles to boot. My 2 cents...

Yes these are very good, industrial quality and havent blunted much in 4 years of hard abuse on tool steels

Well picked up the set today, had to travel to a few stores as they were sold out.

Quality looks good as expected and the handles feel nice to use.

I'm not really a fan of the storage pouch that was included with them though. Might have to find something else suitable.

Craftsman files are the only way to go. They are decent quality and LIFETIME Warranty. So when they dull or damage you get new ones.

I don't know if they're available in your part of the world, but for me, "file" is synonymous with "Nicholson." I've never used a better file, and I pretty much won't use anything other brand these days.

Elroy has noticed that recent production Nicholson files are stamped Mexico and sometimes Honduras.

Makes Elroy want to run out and buy some. How about you?? :puke:

It first I used a Dremel. I got on side right but the other one was to imprecise so I'm waiting to get some needle files.

It was too thick so I thinned it with the file.

As you can see it was to imprecise so I filed down this side.

Every Nicoholson file I own is stamped "Made in USA" up to an including the set I bought from Enco last year.

I find that the thing that ruins files faster than anything for most people is misuse, i.e. dragging the teeth back against the work on the return stroke, using a file in a "scrub brush" motion, or failing to acquire and use a file card and pick to keep the teeth clear.

Yes but the key blank is restricted and expensive($5 a piece). So I figured I would make my own. I plan this summer to get a Proxxon micro mill which should make projects like this easier.
Yeah, 'cause nothing says "good economic decision" like buying a milling machine to avoid spending $5 on a key blank :lol_hitti
