I'd say it's similar to most of the cheaper Chinese made units. I wouldn't buy it if I was using it daily in a professional setting or needed to lift big or diesel engines. But for someone like myself who pulls an engine every few years, I'd say it's real nice.

My 2-drawer Durham box came in last week. It’s definitely “Acceptable” grade, heh. Corners are a bit dented, and there’s a nice big scratch where some bonehead was trying to slice the packing tape on the box that it came in.

A 3 ton hoist is way more than a 2 ton hoist, and a 2 ton hoist is way more than a 1 ton hoist. How much hoist do you need? A heavy equipment diesel motor and trans could weigh 2-3 tons but a BMW aluminum turbo six with trans is maybe half a ton. You can buy a HF folding 1 ton on sale for $99 with a $7 shipping charge.

The one in the OP looks just like the one I bought from Tractor Supply years ago for a little less money. I've only used it a few times, but it has been just fine. The only problem has not been with the lift, but the cars, which were too low for the lift to roll under (British sport cars).

One thing to note is the rating is with the arm fully retracted.

You may need to drive or push the car onto 2x12 planks or sections of planks. I cut a 2x12x12 into 4 pieces using 45 degree cuts for a beveled edge to drive over. I use the with my lift since the arms don’t go quite low enough for my lowered cars.

I bought the identical unit from Advance Auto about 20 years ago for my project car. It's been real handy tucked away in the corner, but I paid about $100 more. Great price.
