Well, let me see. Maybe I'm missing something. I think not, but anyways......
I mentioned that I go to great lengths to not buy products from American firms that make their products in China. Even going so far as to pay more money buying tools used off of Ebay. I mentioned that I do open my wallet and buy from American firms that build their products here. I mentioned that I have bought 3 Makita table saws since the mid 1980s. Fairly certain that the first Makita was Japanese made, but unsure. Wasn't as aware of that since American firms like Milwaukee weren't building their tools in China at that time. Since that time, I've bought a Makita hammer drill and one table saw brand new in the 1990s, when Makita was making these tools here in America. My Makita table saw got run over by a former Employers truck, and destroyed it. If you search it out, you'll find that I posted a thread about a Makita table saw I bought in the last month, off craigslist. This Makita was also American made... by Americans. You started in on me because I bought Makita, presumably because it was made in Japan. You were wrong, it wasn't made in Japan, it was made in America. I mentioned that I bought a few tools in the 1980s like my first Makita table saw, a Makita Hypoid saw, a couple Bosch tools and a Metabo made in Germany, what? 30 plus years ago, because at that time in my life, as a 20 year old, I was seeking top quality tools, and not really concerned about the influx of Chinese made tools, which wasn't the issue back then. The Chinese made tools entering this country were largely **** made in every regard, and the handful of large shop tools by companies such as Grizzly, and Jet, were decent tools for the money. Somewhere along the line, I evolved to NOT supporting American firms that shipped our American jobs to China and India, when our country, and its workers were having a hard time finding jobs, as manufacturing continued to pour out of our country. So I evolved (according to you, a bad thing, and a real hang up and obsession. I say what ever. What ever.) and made up my mind that as an American, who worked in America and who often times was struggling to find a decent paying job, decided that while I support the American worker, I decided that I wasn't going to support the American firms that shipped our jobs to other countries, then brought their products back here, expecting us to buy them. For the simpletons, this was akin to supporting the American troops, but not the wars they were involved in, such as Iraq. I support the American worker, such as myself, but not the selfish execs at these American firms. So I've adopted a few principles, forgive me for attempting to stand my ground and not sell out this country. I wasn't trying to sell you in to doing the same and frankly could give a flying fu.. if you buy your **** from the Taliban or North Koreans. I was just talking about my principles. No where in my collection of possessions, or my words, do I deviate from my principle. So I have no idea when you talk about I don't do what I say..... frankly, you have no idea who I am. You've never met me before, you've never drank beer with me in my shop, etc. Mr Union man, whatever you're name is, you diss me because I bought a german made tool at Home depot. I pointed out in my post that I was in Spokane Washington. An hour and a few minutes from my house, without my debit card. Wife had it. All I had was a Home Depot card. I needed a multi tool right on the spot. I hit home depot and looked down the line at all the American firm outfits such as Milwaukee, Dewalt Porter Cable and Makita, all of which were Chinese build. As mentioned above, I go out of my way to not buy Chinese tools from American firms. Not because I have anything against the Chinese, but because it pisses me off that these American companies pulled jobs here, sent them to china, then sell it back here at home, to make even a huger profit. Some people (obviously you two) are okay with that. I'm not. So that meant that the only option on the table for me, standing there in a Home Depot in Spokane Washington, with nothing but a Home Depot card, was to buy a Fein, which was German made. Had I the time, I'd have done what I typically do, and searched for a used older American made multi tool. I didn't have the time, and I'm actually unsure if American made multi tools even exist. At least I knew that MY money wasn't going to go towards an American company that doesn't support our country at that time....... about a year ago. Union dude, you mentioned that Dewalt and Milwaukee was offering tools now, that were built in the U.S. A trip to Home Depot this Sunday last, verified what you had said, though it appeared that all they had was Dewalt, and only cordless. After coming home and writing about it here, I thought about whether they had corded tools that were American made. I'm not perfect, and I've mentioned having to buy Chinese made products before including a couple fly swatters made in china. You'd have been proud! SO! Does that clear things up then or are you still into mobbing someone because they go out of their way to buy American made?
