Since today was warm at about 50 degree F I changed the oil and filter on my wife's GMC Envoy. Also filled it up and washed it.

Tomorrow 25 for a high and chance of snow...

Turned-up the heat, had a weekend beverage and welded. Made a few rebar snowflakes for a buddy who likes to downhill ski. Then bent some 1/8" plain steel rod and tack welded some "Stick 'em Up" hot dog/sausage cookers. I took the inspiration from barbiethewelder.com and few other ideas on the internet. I think they'll be the hit of the Super Bowl tailgate tomorrow.

Do you get to that from the passenger compartment or the trunk? Curious. Been looking at Caymans and Boxsters.
The belt is accessed from the passenger compartment, through a panel immediately behind the seats. There's also an access panel in the trunk area for getting at the intake filter and the top of the engine.

For being a mid-engined car, it is surprisingly easy to do basic service. The belt was out and back in in about an hour. I did spark plugs last weekend, and beyond some fiddling with heat shields, it was a quick job as well.

7D2Nova Congrats on the heater install.
Interesting looking heater is that a forced hot air with an outside vent ?

Just remember the insulation backing is flammable.

It's just a 15kw electric air handler. So no outside vent needed. I'm within the clearance tolerances of the unit, but have kept an eye on the insulation backing as I thought the same thing.

removed input shaft bearing on transfer case 1991 Toyota. Just for practice as I had a spare transfer case on the floor. Just wanted to see what kind of job it is. Not bad on the floor, won't be as much fun wrenching under the truck but ordered parts. The bearing is growling in my driver.

Today I made a start on my sink area (YAY) then it came to a stop when I broke the only jigsaw blade I had :(

so then I made an Armrest for my son to use when he's tattooing people..

Made it from an old tripod.. will fit well in the retro style parlor he works in.

then I chopped some firewood ...

All in all a good day in the bunker..

Detached garage - pan drop, filter and fluid change on the 6R60 in my 2007 Explorer. It seems to have resolved my complaints on the test drive.
Attached garage - new springs and cables on the garage door. I went to do a small adjustment the other day on one spring and noticed the door cable was down to just a few strands. Since it's over 20 years old I replaced the springs also. This door has extension springs.

1997 maybe? I thought the transmission was a 6R80?

Ahhhh, reading comprehension. The garage door is 20 years old.

Started off by positioning the two card file cabs we moved into the garage yesterday (the smaller one is as heavy with NO drawers than the larger WITH... :dunno:, With its drawers int near imovable... Then installed most of the drawers and consolidated my C clamps (again...) Then got side tracked as my youngest daughter popped in unexpectedly.

Moved the drill press n belt sander on their bench to make room for the new 1" belt sander.
Replaced a bad knock sensor on a Suzuki and fixed the wiring harness, from underneath, in a space the size and shape of a chihuahua.

Found and fixed a broken wire, in an ABS circuit for the '04 impala, I was working on. Bad design was the cause, IMO.

Wind was blow'in and the rain was fall'in ... but nice and toasty in the garage :)

Worked on my 1948 Sears & Roebuck trailer on Saturday. Got the cargo rack I built bolted down nice and then started work on mocking up the underbody toolboxes Ive been hanging onto.

Not a lot, either yesterday or today. Here are some pic of my C clamps in their new home; the larger heavies in one of The 8 drawer card file drawers, the smaller in two of the ten drawer card file drawers.

BIG:

The smaller C-clamps:

And the aluminum and odd ball stuff, and room to grow:

I probably use the aluminum clamps more that the rest combined, unless I'm welding...[/QUOTE]

Bottom drawer in the bigger 8 drawer:

Middle drawer in the 10 drawer:

Not much as we had the grandkids today. Took my 2 year old grandson out to the garage and stood him on the workbench (cleaned off on Sunday) and let him eye and touch the tools hanging on the pegboard. He pulled the nut drivers out of their rack and to my surprize put them all back when he was done examining them. They were out of order, but that comes later. :)
Fun time.

That is a cool trailer. Where did you get something like that? Thought they'd all be rusted away by know.

They haven't all rusted away because we made things better back then. I actually have 2 now. The one above was made by David Bradley for Sears&Roebuck, and the other I just hauled back to Ohio for my dad and it was made by BenHur and owned/used by Iowa State College back in the day. Its in original condition for now, but needs an axle.

There are plenty of these trailers out there if you look for em. They were all very similar from 3 or more different manufacturers and sold by the big catalog companies and stores. The GIs came back from the war and wanted Jeeps and farm trailers, so the market was born. There is a thread on EarlyCJ5.com that is the main database for them on the interwebs.

Off on a tangent but I spotted this old trailer the other day. I’m almost certain that it was a Uhaul unit fifty years ago. It is cool, but dang, he’s still using those ancient tires!!
