I have not seen these before, but that is a very good price. I am curious how they perform as well.

I've been eyeing it up for 2 weeks or so and it looks good but I don't want this to be a fail item.

I love one of the reviews.

"why would you want a tool that did not come with a battery??"

Wow.

The only batts so far are 1.5ah and 3ah, on the smaller one that's MAYBE 10min of runtime, 20 on the 3ah. That kills it for me

Yes, anything that runs constantly will eat batteries.. for short jobs, not an issue. For reference, the fuel grinder with a 9.0 battery will run about 45 min under a load. I'd guesstimate you'll get 15 min or so with a 3.0 on the Bauer with constant use.

Sounds like it'll spend more time charging than anything else.

2 batteries is fine for us home gamers, I have the m18 but would buy this HF grinder in a heartbeat. And you just know bigger batteries are coming.

I've been curious about the batteries as well, in order to stay in the game a bigger batter has to be on the way. It would be nice to have 2 of them, 1 with a cut off wheel and 1 with flap discs. Less switching and no cord to fight.

I wouldn't count on that. The Hercules line offers 5.0 batteries, marketing that line to more "professional" type use.. i don't see HF having the 2 lines compete with each other.. I'm guessing that's why Hercules doesn't have an impact wrench, to push people into the earthquake line for those..

That sure would be handy to have. But buying the grinder, 20 amp battery and charger comes to around $95. I've already got 5 or 6 corded grinders. I always work near an outlet, so its hard to justify that much money just for a little convenience. Too bad, I do like it though.

You bring up a good point. They have too many "pro" and "semipro" systems, all using different batts. Between Earthquake and Baier and Hercules that is a bit much. They have always done that; how many "sawsalls" do they have at incrementally higher prices, or 1/2 air impact wrenches? They are very successful; so what do I know?
