A possible reason - you know the saying along the lines, ‘proof or it didn’t happen’. I would say the community benefits more when forum members contribute being very detailed oriented even down to the city where the item was discovered at a lower price. H3ck, something might start to be marked down on clearance on the east coast and vice versa with the western region, and if the OP posts detailed information with their discover in terms of the State and city, it helps others keep an open eye out for it to be marked down in their region if there isn’t a shipping store out there willing to ship the item.

At any rate...it doesn’t hurt to be more descriptive as to where the item was found at a lower price.
Where I find these deals is my little corner of the world. It doesn't matter where I find it, you only need to be concerned within your own area. Everything is regional and markdowns happen at different times throughout the U.S. If I post the location, then there are those clowns calling my area stores wanting to have the item shipped. I'm not going to jeopardize my chances or deals. It's enough that I post the deals, which at any rate I'm doing lately more than anybody. There is a thing called a bookmark on your browser, if you like the deal use it. watch the item every week, if it drops go for it. If I ever see someone post "proof or it didn't happen", that will be the last time I post a deal.

Found this deal at my local Lowes (72761). Portamate Wood Rack item # 752430 for $19.98 was $59.98 a few weeks ago. It was located in the area with the garage organizing items.

Here is a hot deal if anyone needs filters for the
3M 750-Gallon Under Sink Complete Filtration System with Reverse Osmosis
Item # 580000.
The above system is no longer available at Lowes. The filters are available for parcel shipping everywhere. ( have not found a store that actually has them in stock), Warehouse must be clearing them out. These sell for $41.00 on Amazon. Lowes has them for $4.20.

3M 2-Pack 750-Gallon Under Sink Replacement Filters with Reverse Osmosis
Item # 580001

Fenton MO, $5.70. How does that help anyone besides maybe 1 person in Fenton that could have discovered it by checking prices at their store? $8.75, champaign, il. Nope, still doesn't help me. You want me to list every single zipcode where this deal is? That is the only way the majority will get any value out of it.

Eta: hope no one in these 2 areas misses the deal since people now know where to find it.

If the location is not listed, essentially NO ONE can find it, so no value in listing it. Whether an item shows as available for shipping is a function of the buyer's location, so he has no way of knowing whether the item is shippable for others or not.

Curious why you say shipping is a function of location? Lowes knows nothing about my location when Im searching different stores. I have never seen anyone say shipping wasn't available for them when others are posting shipping deals

Shipping changes from truck to parcel based on the whims carried in the wind it seems. Example- I was able to get one of the paslode nailers shipped to me by utilizing my father's address instead of my own. He lives approximately 15 minutes away (albeit in a different zip code), which should make no difference to Lowe's based on shipping warehouses, etc. He has a Lowe's close to his home which is different from the one close to mine - but both are stocked from the same central location.

So, when my shipping address was listed as my primary address truck shipping only was available from the zip where the deal was.

When my shipping address was listed as my father's, shipping became available via parcel - I've no idea why and in such cases it's a 50/50 shot on the order being cancelled, but it's worth a try.

Location of the nail gun was on the west coast, I'm in the mid south, gun shipped from the East coast.

Thus, as I presume none of us know the algorithm used, the only way I was able to use the deal was knowing the original location.

For what it's worth - just trying to add info.

Having said all that... Wish it was a non fuel nail gun but oh well.

Posting without a location is gloating, not sharing a deal. Without knowing the location, essentially no one else can get the deal.

"post the deal" means location included. We appreciate the deal postings, if the location is included so others have some chance of getting it, but gloating tends to just annoy people.

I get both sides of this argument. If someone posts a deal I check my 3 local stores. If they don't have it, I don't need it. If they do have it and the price is normal I watch it until it drops (if I ever drops) The way I shop I don't NEED location.

If there is something that I really need that's on clearance I can usually spend a few minutes searching and find it... but yes a location would help. But 9 times out of 10 the OP buys out the stock at that location.

Yes, that is nuts! The random whims of their shipping options and no way for human employees to override them as a sanity check cost Lowe's a (non-clearance) purchase I wanted to make a couple weeks ago. Ended up getting what I needed from Amazon for $20+ more instead. :wtf:

I don't need location and I'm not posting a location until I've already done shopping. Just make sure the stock number is readable in any pics.

Yes, gumme should know you have to list location.

Here is a challenge for you Woodturner9. When have you ever posted a deal. Date and posting number. You have been on here for 11 years. Join Date: Feb 2007
Posts: 375. I've read thru 13 pages of your posts . not a single deal has been posted by you. You are the last person to be telling me what I should and shouldn't do!
If an item I post is available for parcel shipping, it is notated. If it is not, then my location is meaningless. End of story!

Not sure how accurate that is, because someone cancelled my Paslode order, while my brothers (different zip) went thru.
My brother placed his order at least 2hrs after mine. :headscrat

The way I look at it is that I would rather know about a deal and be able to check if it's also available at my local stores rather than not know about the deal in the first place. If someone doesn't want to post a location that's their prerogative but I definitely appreciate the deals being posted with or without location.

Can we delete this thread and start over for 2018 Lowe's Deals. This whining and bitching is doing nothing for nobody. Post a deal anyway you want, something is always better than nothing. It takes less than 60 seconds to search around an area for a matching/decent price.

oh, and:

BakerStone Original Stainless Steel Tool Set
Item # 786573 Model # O-ACXXX-O-000
marked 50% off in clearance section. Online price still shows regular retail. ymmv

Seriously the whining is getting old. I only post location after I found what I want or if I have no interest in the item. Someone posting their location or not has never bothered me.

This is a deals thread. Post a deal, location or not, post the deal and everyone else just move along. If they don't post the location, who cares. If they didn't post a deal you'd be complaining as well. Everyone is getting so catty over a thread in a forum.

Can we all agree from this point forward to just leave it alone if you have a problem with the deals that are posted? Be it location or any other issue?

No joke....YMMV. To better inform the community these were the clearance markdown prices for the above item depending on region—> $25.80, $32.25, $39.60, $45.15, $49.50, $51.60 (this item can currently be found for as low as this price...if you’re lucky enough to find it), $59.40, $64.50, $67.73, $69.30, $70.95, $89.10 is a more common price if you can find it on your own.

Some apparently missed it, so just a quick note that the discussion about the requirement to post location (and the other off-topic discussion) moved to the Lowes discussion thread, since it is off-topic here. Thanks.

I noticed that item too. I passed on it. Very tempting, though.

I don’t know what they were thinking when the Stanley tool kit below retailed for $99 and dropped all the way down to $14.50. I might have purchased one just for fun if it included 6 point sockets.

Still showing $39.98 at my Lowe's. I keep waiting on it to drop so I can buy one for my nephew (his current tool lineup is a screwdriver, hammer and a tape measure... That's it).

Yeah, still $99 everywhere around me. There are a couple of guys I would buy this for if it ever gets down to $14.50 here.

Dang, he’s got it to the bare bones in terms of tool assortment. Keep a close eye on it if you truly want it. I didn’t post the location since it’s a moot point over how the forum feels (given the prior posts which I think are now relocated somewhere else)...anyways, the 14 price point was the only store with that lower proce; nearby locations near the $14 store list at or around $99. It would appear the lowes that does have them @ 14 can’t even give them away...and they had more than a few on hand.

Yeah, still $99 everywhere around me. There are a couple of guys I would buy this for if it ever gets down to $14.50 here.

That might be good news for you considering the reason I shared above. Every store at $99 might have a store nearby with a much deeper discount. It just all depends I suppose. Oh, I wouldn’t expect every store to reach that low, but it might happen depending on the difficulty with selling them. I can see the across the board price at several locations between the $20 to $30 range when they drop to their lowest price.

Now if a store with it in stock drops any lower than $14...I’m pulling the trigger on this purchase. I really don’t expect that, but I’ve seen crazy things happen before with lowes prices.

Showing 79.97 at that store????

Most likely b/c it’s now out of stock and back at it’s full retail price. Lowes does this often when the store sells out.

gumme,
I checked within 10min of woodturner9 posting and it was showing stock of 1, but parcel shipping was no longer available. Price was still $5.

I've found that once stock goes to zero regular price shows.

Did find other shelves on clearance from $50 to $20 and just got pick up confirmation. No free/parcel shipping.

I bought the cart with the 4 drawers and the matching top chests x2 sets (2 chests and 2 carts) for the same rock bottom prices just like what you paid. At these prices it really doesn’t matter on condition unless it’s beaten badly...but it does happen no matter just how perfect the retail box appears. Hopefully yours is in perfect condition.

Make sure the drawers open and close smoothly. Oh, one more thing, the wheels on some have the blue circle ring...these are the newer manufactured carts in the same series. The older ones won’t have that blue ring.

Haha, oh-wow. Doesn’t surprise me. It wouldn’t surprise me if other stores bounce the price back up. In any case...I really wish there was 6 point sockets and I would have pulled the trigger. It’s getting a little late to snap off pics of my recent scores...but I’ll share them later (tomorrow). I promise they’re really awesome deals!!
