Yes I have. If you have radon in your area and have never tested I would definitely recommend it. If you know you have radon but just wanted to know the level buy a radon detector (~$200) so you don't have to buy the test kits on a yearly basis. When I bought the house the seller had to have a radon remediation system installed to get the levels to the legal limit, but the levels are still higher than I would like and a detector would allow me to monitor these levels and take action if needed (which is why I suggest buying a detector instead of just test kits).

I dont know if I have radon in my basement but my house was built in 1949 and has a cinder block foundation. I do have a mold issue but not sure if it's due to the grade of the land being off.
How would I know if my are has radon in my are?
What is the name/ model of yuor tester?

Lots of radon in my area, there's a lot of uranium in the soil here. They want to set up a mine a couple of miles away.

It looks like my plymouth county is orange/level 2, moderate level for massachusetts.

If I used ythe pro-lab kit would it be placed in the basement or 1st floor of the house? Does the results just go to the owner?

Safety Siren Pro Series 3 Electronic Radon Detector, is this the tester that you have?

You want to put it in the basement, close to the ground. Keep it in place for 48 hours and try not to open doors/windows/attic any more than you absolutely have to or it will throw the results off. The results just come back to you. If you find out that you have high levels I would call a local company to come out and install a few pipes/fans.

Radon maps here:
http://www.epa.gov/radon/zonemap.html#mapcolors

Hmmm?? The whole state of Iowa is listed as a zone1 "highest potential", yet our realtor last year said that they rarely see a test come back as bad in this area. The buyers of our home insisted on a test, come back negative.
Apparently poured concrete basements, which most are that were built in the last 30-40years in this area, are the least likely to have problems.

A radon map is pretty worthless. Your next door neighbor may have high levels while you have none.

www.accustarlabs.com is one place that you can use for test kits. They should be placed in living quarters. The long-term kits are typically more accurate.
