New slab sealing

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to my question but I'll ask it in case I missed a product the might work.

In the next few weeks my slab should be poured. I was thinking of inexpensive quick options to seal against oil penetration. My goal was to put something down before the building is erected. As much as I drool over the garages on this forum all I want is to help block stains. I will weld in this building and drive in muddy tractors, a skid steer, etc. In my last workshop I applied a clear sealer. It helped but obviously only lasted so long. I can live with oil stains if need be but I'd rather have a clean floor. My last build was in the early 90's so I figured I'd see what's out there now.

Don't do anything for 28 days. Hydrate the slab for the first 7 days.

I used Eagle Natural Seal on the concrete slab in my barn.

It's available from Home Depot, less then $100 for a 5 gallon pail. Shipped to your door for free.

It doesn't change the look of the concrete, just seals it.

Water beads up nicely.

When I was installing my 2 post Rotary Lift about a quart of fluid (Auto Trans Fluid) leaked out onto the floor, I cleaned it up, you can't tell it ever happened. That proved it's a good sealer to me.

For most sealers your slab will need to dehydrate before you apply them. Best way to protect a floor during construction is a layer of plastic followed by a layer of sheet rock as it is cheap enough to toss when the building is done. Of course I am in the desert southwest with no rain and little moisture. Drywall in a wet environment would not work to well.

Retroman, It is very wet here. I even have to bring dirt in to raise the slab because of the ground water. I think I could have a well here by sticking a sharp stick in the ground.

Hi, Ghostshield densifier/sealer combo or a single coat of our SPGX would work great in this application. GS is a penetrating product that won't change the look of your floor at all, SPGX is a coating that gives gloss and the look of polished concrete and reduces dusting better. Cost is about the same.

I acid etched mine with color then clear 2 part on top with anti slip grit.... so many stIn colors to pick... I used Legacy Industrial....
Eastern N.C. here as well, I waited 8 months before applying...very satisfied.

I went with the Eagle Natural Seal. I ended up buying 10 gal and used less than 4. I had my new roll away in the pickup and just as I got home we got a very hard summer shower. To save the boxes from the rain I pulled into the shop. Water got on the floor. After two days in the high 90's there were still puddles on the floor. I'm sure welding and wear will take their toll but I'm happy with the results.

Any pics of your floor? Did you go with satin or gloss?

Been a good while, I don’t remember, it’s holding up good... it was A 2 part clear is all I remember.
