Looking for a decent 3/8" air ratchet that will not cost me an arm and leg. I have a old HF one but it does not seem to have much balls behind it.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. I have a NAPA Intimidator that hurt me once. You really need to be aware of your surroundings and brace accordingly. Overall its not a bad ratchet and I like the movable exhaust. Mine was $35 but I think they retail for a fair bit more.

SP 7786/MAC AR1776. Really good power and wont make you deaf. The reverse switch is offset like a pear head so if you back it into something you don't struggle trying to flip it. You can find the MACs used for ~$100.

I've always been partial to the Mac branded SP air stuff. Air ratchets I feel are a lot of personal preference for speed/torque/control/direction.
