I think you were called out and are now back peddling. Your first post has "for many years" and now it is or "2 or 3 times". Those two statements aren't the same, and I doubt the "2 or 3 times in 40 years" is very accurate. People like yourself is the reason places like REI & LL Bean have changed their generous return policy due to abuse.

Good luck in exchanging files in the future

Ok, I’ll try one more time. I ain’t back peddling. The many years is the 40 years. The last time I tried to exchange a file was at least 5-10 years ago which is when I discovered normal wear is no longer covered. I bought files then and now I would like new ones. I never abused any return policy and tough shitsky if you don’t believe me. I have received a lot of help from this forum over the years and tried to help others when I could. Have never been accused or treated like this.

Thanks to those who gave helpful suggestions.

I see lots of back peddling, dancing, and making excuses. I still stand by my opinion that was a low class move to take worn files back for exchange. :bitchslap

How is that any different than buying snap-on drill bits for the warranty? If sears was willing to exchange them, that's on sears. Wear and tear was included under the lifetime warranty at time of purchase.

Op wasn't exchanging broken stuff he bought at the flea market, or buying some expensive tool, using it once and returning it.

They stopped exchanging them, so the op is looking for a new solution. We're talking about a ten dollar file here. Sheesh.
