All these derby cars in the last day or so makes me wonder what ever happened to ol' Red. I raced for four or five years back in elementary school (I think about ages 8-13 if I recall correctly) and though I built a new car every year almost, I still always entered ol' Red because it just performed plain and simple. I really hope that car is somewhere around my parents' place still.

I had a big tree fall in front of our house and thankfully just brushed the neighbor's car and house. That really made me look at the other trees I had around my building and decided to take one down before I regretted it one day. A week after we had another bad windy storm and a tree two houses down fell and wiped out his smaller barn shed. He come over and said that he thought about asking my tree guys for a quote the day they were dropping my tree. Now he has the regrets.

While your blue/silver one is cool, I like the army tank! [emoji38];
My son wanted a tank and he loves his Army dad. I wanted to do a Army drag car but just didn't like any of the model engines I had to put in the back. OCD kicking in. Not enough time to dremel out a cool engine so I figured a drag tank would be the way to go. I have a bunch of flat camo paints which dry fast. I guided his hands as he used the band saw. (Didn't tell momma bout that yet). Little work with the belt sander and knocked that car out in about 45 minutes I think. Paint and all...lol

You were VERY lucky! that tree must have eased over rather than crashed, or you would be rebuilding a wall and part of the roof...

Since the rain has finally stopped and the sun has come out and temps are in the low 60's it's just perfect weather to be doing stuff outside.

I've been cleaning off the workbench putting things away from my last project. While doing that I had a drill bit sitting on my bench from my 79 yr old neighbor that he broke. I told him I could grind it down & resharpen it for him.

Took a few pics just because... Basically just ground and was able to cut off the bad part. Eyeballed re-grinding the tip on the bench grinder to get it decent. Then finished off on my drill doctor. Good as new!

I've never had much luck with my DD. I can make it look good and sharp, but they don't ever cut worth a ****.

Overall I've had really good success re-sharpening my bits. It's like night & day when you are drilling into metal. One thing (which I don't know if it really helps or not) is if I have to grind a lot on a bit, I will re-set the drill-bit in the chuck and give it a few more light passes. Now that all my common bits I know are sharp, as soon as they start to get dull I will break out the DD to give them a touch-up. Much like a kitchen knife, you don't use it until it won't cut, you always keep it razor sharp. ;)

Started this morning helping a friend change the brakes on his wife’s GMC Acadia, then he helped me out some cheap rock slides on my jeep. Went with the cheapest i could find that I liked because I have no intention of rock crawling or trail riding it. And also don’t know how long I’ll keep it. $219 to my door. Then I changed out the bulbs on my atv. Went with auto 55 watt 9003 hoping to give some better light for when we stay out in the dusk..

Finished by a quick wash of both the wife’s Pacifica and my jeep

Started giving the old RAS a tune-up because the arm was a little wobbly from side to side. After fixing that I was looking at the table that the previous owner installed and it was just in such sorry shape. It was several layers of plywood stapled together that had a nice big bow in the middle so you couldn't really lay material flat.

Decided it was time to do something about that so I pulled off the old table and cut me a new one from some thick flooring type particle board / OSB material that I dumpster dived from a two-story new home construction.

Got the table cut but didn't have time to drill the holes. Sun was going down and I needed to clean up everything in the driveway and take the dog for his evening walk. Tomorrow though I should have it mounted, then I can adjust everything else to make it all square and perpendicular and all that jazz... Oh, need to cut a new fence too, maybe a little higher than the old one.

Then when I get all that done, I can cut the shelves that I want to add up high in my pantry for extra storage.

The cheapo halogen driver side fog light went out on my wife's Premium (non pony package) Mustang.
The car never came equipped with fog lights but wife wants them for night driving in foggy conditions.
These were JDM 55W halogens I put in about 3 years ago, they were pretty rusty and beat.
The fuse holder was close to the exhaust manifold (looked far enough away when I put them in!) and it had melted the enclosed casing over the years but the fuse was still fine! :shocking:
Wiring couldn't be trusted anymore and was the main reason I just didn't replace the halogen bulb, it "ALL" had to go.

So I took my wife shopping and we picked out a nice pair of LED lights to replace the Halogens...Anzo USA Fog Light Assembly 861141 18W assemblies.

https://scontent-ort2-1.**.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/28379533_2158443414182192_8812035039408074422_n.jpg?oh=7cfafdb5dc973704ededf7e66063c980&oe=5B3EAB8F

So, I rewired the whole circuitry farther away from the area it was before.
And enclosed it in wire loom. The exhaust manifold shouldn't effect the wiring anymore.
I wired them thru a relay where the dash switch power is controlled by the parking lights.
They don't work with the parking lights off.
If you leave the fog switch on, the parking light will turn off (or on) the fogs and the reminder chime lets you know your lights are on.
No dead batteries.

Here is the assembly with the cover on...

https://scontent-ort2-1.**.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/28685705_2158443704182163_6643654993089499045_n.jpg?oh=f787e7873259edda0b277dd99d435208&oe=5B40EC44

And they are pretty bright! ...brighter then the 55W Halogens.

Swapped the starter on my bike and prepped it for spring. turns out my OE starter suffered from common failure mode #3:

Since they still make them like that, replaced it with a $60 amazon knockoff - starts like a charm, saved me $500. will rebuild the french one when i get to it.

It's was strange, I've lived through 3 pretty intense hurricanes and the damn tree never moved, but I guess 40-60 MPH sustained winds were no match for it. Whats funny is my wife and I had talked about a week ago once the weather isn't so bad, to take it down since it was slowly dying and putting a fire pit in its place....so now she gets her fire pit.

You were VERY lucky! that tree must have eased over rather than crashed, or you would be rebuilding a wall and part of the roof...

Oh definitely outlaw! When I got to it, it wasnt quite to 45 degrees yet so it looks like it just went over slow and rested on the building. When my wife called and told me I was at work, all I said was "Is it on the building or IN the building. I would have **** a brick because I've got my other truck in there doing an injector replacement lol

Why wouldn't that disc be made of or faced with nylon/teflon? :dunno:

Jason, I don't know the model number of your Craftsman RAS but Emerson did a recall on certain models. They either pay you $100 for returning parts (making it unusable) or ship you a free upgrade kit with a blade safety cover and new particle board table (with holes drilled).

The original blade guard seemed OK to me:

But if they are sending me something for free, I'm good with that. Here's the new guard:

You can google "Craftsman radial arm saw recall upgrade" or go to this site for more information:

Yes I know about that, I've sent in two other motors thus far from junky RASes... hehe...

They don't have blade guards / table kits anymore, only the $100 thing... I would have loved an updated guard but not the end of the world, I'm careful and work at a slow pace.

Put a couple hundred lbs of scrap metal drops back up on the shelves that I took down for a Young kid that was looking for drops to practice welding on. I gave him a really good price, less than I would have got for scrap, but he rescheduled twice and on the third time just bailed out right. So I said **** him, I wanted to park in my stall again. Damn kids...(I'm only 29 lol)

Dug out the battery charger and hooked it up to my 01 Silverado. Now it seems that the passlock is mad at me.

Cleaning out the “stuff” the previous owner of my house left me.
3 boxes of some of the ugliest tile I’ve seen...
Reorganize and continue emptying moving boxes.

Mounted the table on my RAS then spent the next few hours adjusting everything on it to get it all square and tight and straight and perpendicular and all that jazz... But now it's all dialed it to a hair's width in every direction imaginable.

Installed 2 more lock cylinders (one on the big cabinet and one on the storage tool box). Checked the pickup out for the weekly commute. And figured out how to redo the lock on the shed...

Spent way too long trying to cure My ABS and traction control lights !

Have spent many hours online trying to understand how to troubleshoot the damn thing.

With a code reader and a multimeter, My 65 yr old a$$, finally had success !

Big lessons learned today !

Not my garage but I volunteer at an aviation museum that has just taken ownership of an AP-3C Orion care of the Royal Australian Air Force, we have started refitting the leading edges on the horizontal stabilizers. The air force disassembled and trucked the aircraft to the museum, eventually it will be a complete bomber again, very soon we hope... oh that's not me in the pic...

Went to get a beer after a few hours of motorcycle riding and the beer was not cold. Compressor would not start. Just what I need, another project.
