I picked up this 1959 porcelain Texaco sign in a trade deal back in 2012.
I hung it inside my house in a game room for the past 6 years:

Never thought of having it mounted outside until we decided to build our shop.
I started looking for a sign pole and put up a want ad on Craigslist. I had a guy from Nevada contact me and we ended up making a deal. The pole came from a Texaco gas station in Pioche Neveda and was dated 1940:

I got it shipped down to AZ:

I used 75W LED bulbs that are 2700K in color. You can see the huge difference here with my 5000K shop lights. I figured the warmer yellow is what you would have seen in the 50's. At night with the shop lights off it looks really warm and nice:

That's really cool. There is/was a sign just like that down the road from me. The inner Texaco disappeared several years ago but the post is still there.

Very nice, what does the wife say?
She loves it. She grew up around this stuff.

Sign looks great!

How Long did you spend searching for the sign post?

How did you go About it? Multiple CL wanted ads?

I just put a local CL want ad. It took several months. Really only had 2 replies. One from Washington state, which was just too far away and Las Vegas which is only 4 hours from me. Oh, I also put a want ad on Oldgas.com but no hits. Guess they are getting hard to find.

Super nice sign and great job installing it! I love it when someone gives new life to these relics instead of sending them to the scrap yard!

Great job!

I know of one which is still standing with the sign and the pole - and the lights but not still working. Would love to ignore the many "no trespassing" signs and try to make the guy an offer. What are these things worth unrestored? My picker instinct says anywhere from
$1200-2500??

That’s really cool. Those signs are worth so much now, it’s almost a shame to hang them outside.
