need a white wall cabinet, don't care what material. Melamine, painted, wood, MDF, don't care. as long as it looks half way decent. will be using it to cover a breaker panel that's recessed in. needs to be 24-27" wide, and about 36" tall. I found one online at home depot, just looking for something cheaper. any ideas?

this is what i found at home depot:

You might run into working clearance issues unless it is very shallow.

i don't think this will be a concern as the opening is 24" wide, i left it that wide on purpose to access the sides.

i think i may just buy some 1x6 and make a simple frame and a light door, and do frameless hinges. i was hoping to get by with as little work as possible as i got a million projects going on, but if you can't find what you need you can always build what you need

I would suggest trying to find a door the size you need and make a frame for it like you just mentioned. Got a cabinet maker in your area that could whip up a simple door with facing or a frame ?

Keep in mind, to hang it, it's going to need to or should be mounted to the wall studs. Since this is covering the breaker box, you will have a ton of electrical in the wall, be very careful running your screws in the wall and in that general area.

what about just adding plastic laminate to a plywood "door" that you mount in front of the panel?
if you had to buy a whole sheet of PLAM and had the plywood on hand it would cost you less than $40.
