Is there any major difference between the different brands? The majority of them seem to be made by the same manufacturer.

The HF are thin walled. Good for removing lugs unless they are stuck. If they are stuck in there they will crack, ask me how I know.

I'm glad then that I got them AFTER I sold off my old Mercedes, those lug nuts were tighter then hell.

Mine are from facom, remember that not all of them are impact rated.

I had a similar experience and was surprised to learn that Pittsburgh automotive tools do NOT have a lifetime warranty. Real bummer. My Titan sockets are holding up well though.

HF sells two lines of these, the pittsburgh pro line does have a warranty. I took a gamble and bought the cheap set. Cracked the 21mm with not too much use. I bought a cheap replacement off amazon. If I buy another set from HF it will be the pro set.

They all crack. Nature of the beast. I used to warranty a Matco set every 3 months. Snapon last just as long.

Just an FYI, I dont mind HF stuff (love the regular impact sockets) but the wheel lug sockets from HF (red case) can NOT be warrantied.

If I had to do it over Id buy a truck brand set so they could be swapped out.

That's what I found too. I have two of them from "different brands" and they arrived with the brand on a literal sticker stuck to the socket. One was FIT Tools and the other I can't remember.

It’s a piece of glass fiber impregnated nylon around and inside a very thin walled deep well socket. It’s going to break eventually no matter how much you pay for it.

For the record mine are Sunex but I only use them on very fancy wheels. I usually use a regular deep well impact.

I think a wheel is designed wrong if a simple regular socket can scuff it up.
