Damon- I have a question too.:), what make is the little 4 way offset screwdriver in your third picture? That old Wright socket is different looking too.
Can't tell on the screwdriver, what would something like that be used for? If it had four different type tips I could understand but they are all slots.

It is stamped something like "PT CO MADE USA".

I was guessing this might mean Plomb Tools since there are some other Plomb items. But haven't found that Plomb (or PROTO) ever made anything like this.

Check the pics and see what you think. Hard to take pictures of this, the item is only 5 1/2 inches long and the shaft with the stamping is less than 1/4".

I cleaned it up a little and it says PEXTO Made In USA.

It's exactly 4 inches between the two faces.

Seems kind of delicate for body work if that is what it's for.

attachment.php

Damon, its probably not for car body work but lighter copper or silver smiting work.

Yes, this photo (which I came across months ago and have been saving for just such an occasion :D ) of a silversmith's collection of shiny hammers includes similar designs:

I had never seen those before so I grabbed them. I couldn't find any manufacturer marked just part numbers and the range of travel of each spanner.
Here are some more pictures.
I also want to know what the thread's host is doing with my wife's matchbox on his new GI Joe toy box?
-Don

The largest crowfoot adjustable spanner looks like it has a pin instead of a hook. Or is it just the shadow in the photo? The W-8000 numbers often indicate Wright Aeronautical, and are seen on tools used on Wright aircraft engines. The Navy used Wright piston engines into the late 1970's.

Missing the top tray but otherwise minty.
Thanks, Arne. I didn't know they came with a top tray. What held the tray up? I don't see any slots or tabs or anything. The only thing on the inside are the retainers on the ends of the rope handles.

And lastly, this EJ McAleer box with contents,
What brand and sizes are the ignition wrenches?

Nice haul, btw. Love the badge on the Indestro box.

If you're not keeping, put the Bonney, Duro and Williams aside for me, please. Future trade. Those AT-8048 dupes look like Merlin-Packard wrenches. Or possibly Fairchild. EDIT: Definitely Merlin. And its a size snapmom needs. Link.
Sure, I'll start a 3rd box......

I think you touched on the one remaining brand whose resale value had not yet been inflated by GJ discussion. The last pair of those sold on everbody’s favorite auction site recently for...are you ready for this...$0.06. ...[ ]... Out of curiosity I was just looking to see if there were other tools under that name, and there are.
Too funny! I guess the buyer got HIS MONEY'S WORTH. But where did you see other tools with the same marking? I had the same thought, tried the same thing, and found a Tire Repair Kit and a Sear's hat with that slogan on it. Thinking it may have been a Sear's brand, I searched on any number of combinations with and without Sears, and with any number of tools, with no luck.

Sure, I'll start a 3rd box......
Wait. You don't already have a bin for me? Now I need to go back and try to remember what things I wanted in the past. I know I have a massive 1920's Bonney wrench set aside for one of your boards.

This was today's haul, a Craftsman 3" vise, Craftsman 3" machinist vise, and husky tools with a lonely snapon wrench, and a clench wrench. I also got a Harley Davidson brake fluid can. All for $16

See if the resized pics worked.

You have to re-size them. The site isn't automatically re-sizing photos anymore. I've been using 700 x 520.

Or you can upload one at a time, that error seems to only happen if you try to attach multiple images in one go, IIRC. Can keep going back to edit the post to add more, one by one.

I only searched Ebay listings. There is an old auger drill bit. Under completed listings, the pliers and an old wood chisel.

I already posted this in the oiler can thread, but I bought this Rainbow branded Eagle at an estate sale today for $2.50. The original price, in the 50’s or 60’s, was $1.69.

Craigslist find, 80 bucks. 3 year old large view lincoln viking. Small crack on the filter lense but I haven't noticed it welding, probably wouldnt have noticed it if I hadnt replaced the outer plastic lense and battery. Its a little cosmetically rough on the shell but great functionally.

One sale today. It was an estate sale from a local architect. Ugly house but it was huge. Finished basement with 8ft ceilings. Lots of space.

One small workshop in a section of the basement. Here is what I got for $15 (the asking price)

Nicely done, Matt.

Nothing in range for me today. Instead, I got around to scrapping the Craftsman radial arm saw I got last month. I dropped the motor and rail off at FedEx today and should get the recall check in another month.

State auction today...picked up two Vidmar cabinets for $600. They were used to store electronics so they're in fantastic shape, though the bearings need a bit of greasing. I'm going to remove the casters and put them where my blueprint cabinets currently are...going to be hard to get rid of those.

The boot jack is sort of creepy, is it a "cow-boy" or a devil? :dunno: in any case its solid brass. Door lock guide, Small dado, German dykes (Lobster logo?), and "Pearl Duck, Dubl Duck" scissors...
