Aha, thanks for confirming my vague recollection about HD. Sounds like they definitely belonged on my little 'naughty list'. ;)

I do know Target doesn't do this kind of BS - their clearance prices only go downward, and if you find a leftover item after the store computers moved it into not-for-sale status because the clearance timeframe ended, they let you buy it for the last (lowest) price in the system. Not a whole lot of tool-type stuff to be had there, though.

Okay, we'd probably better stop comparing about other stores before one of the topic-police gets mad. :p

Clearance doesn't mean its never going to come back, not sure how thats BS. I think you assume that because most of the deals you see are items which are going non-stock that's magically what clearance means. Also places like Lowes seem to non-stock a SKU, only to have a nearly identical (but somehow different) product come back.

Target definitely "does this kind of BS"... at the end of the season their lawn & garden stuff is clearanced out to make room for Christmas, then the Christmas stuff, then back. That's independent of products they are no longer going to carry. Stores will also clearance stuff out at any time for reason they need to get rid of stuff - need the shelf space even if temporarily, doing a reset/reconfiguration of the display or another display that affects it, too many in the warehouse with even more ordered coming in, etc.

My favorite Lowes deal BTW was when they non-stocked 1/2 4x8 OSB (bought about 100 sheets at $4.50 a pop), or 2x6x16' studs... I think I bought about 250 of those under 2 bucks a piece. I thought maybe they weren't going to carry 16' 2x6s anymore, but they showed right back up under a new SKU.

Every instance with HD doing that I've noticed it was a different SKU/UPC, even if the packaging looked identical. No idea what the purpose is of doing that though.

Some garage springs marked way down if your garage door is that style...

Each store is probably different. I have a store that I follow the sticker lady. The prices are up and down mon thru fri. It is very hard to figure out.

The pricing lady is the one to find for getting deals quickly. You'll see her walking around with a cart and label sheets all over it. Just ask her if there's any big markdowns that day, or clearance in certain departments.

There's often clearance items priced lower than they are marked. If the items get moved to a different areas or moved around by customers, and the pricing person doesn't find them, the marked price will remain the same until it's scanned again and someone prints a new label.

I got some rolls of insulation 90% off at Lowes a few years ago. Assistant store manager told me that they were changing venders and new vender had an exclusive agreement that was to be effective in a week. After that date they wouldn’t be allowed to sell the prior vendor’s product. Maybe something similar happened with one of their lumber vendors.

The item below made me laugh. There’s so many better options in the market when it comes to a charger. I quickly read the description...something about iPhone 4s. Wow, now that’s just saying how old the deceive has been in the market. Wondering why it took lowes so long to clearance it out. Anyways...normally about $10 now as low as 80 cents.

It’s not even rechargeable, it takes 4 AA batteries lol. Not even work 80 cents imho.

Interesting! Both items appear to be identical. Same product, possible
updated version and packaging. One is on clearance, the other is full price.
$1.00 in Porterville, CA Parcel shipping is available at that store.

Nice find, gumme.

Looks like it might be the same as this one on Amazon. If so, it appears that these are really intended to be a 1-time use item due to the battery compartment not being readily accessible (glued on). They use button batteries, so expensive to change out anyway. I guess it is a $1 disposable glow light.

You're a city kid, eh??

I spend a lot of time off the grid, AND I have an unlimited supply of AAs. These things are very, very nice and I have one in each of about 5 bags.

When I run into something that is only rechargeable, and DOESN'T take AA, that's when I "lol" at its uselessness.

In highschool (circa 1989 ish) my good friend made this using a small battery pack holding 4 AAA batteries and and LED with the LED firing up into a glue stick. He'd probably have been a millionaire if he actually pursued this and his various other inventions.

I miss your posts man! I've no chance to find anything major due to my lack of know how. Alas, I hit my Lowe's today and pickings were so slim I gave up.

Dude, it’s been slow for deals these last few weeks. I’m hoping Lowes won’t enter into another week for disappointments. The few things I had my eye on went back to full price. What the...

I’ll share what I know if something comes along worth mentioning. I do like the new lowes site layout.

Edit: this item might interest some. Actual retail price was $50. Still nothing else worth mentioning.

Ran up to Lowe's this morning since it said 3 of the powerbanks were in stock @ $4.40...

Only found one with the other electronic things and no price tag on the shelf... heh...

Went to check out and asked the lady about it if the others could be locked up. She looked on her terminal and it actually said 5 in stock, so she called someone on the phone and asked. She said they looked yesterday for the others but that was the only one they found.

So I guess one is better than none, which is the usual case. The boxes are so little, and my store doesn't lock up much electronics so it wouldn't surprise me if they walked off...

Earbuds are at $50 in my store in NJ.

Hopefully you eventually score one.

They re-dropped the price on some of the Anker items (after dropping, then going back to full price)...

Cool and I see in your follow up post you actually scored one. It’s nice Anker didn’t use the same exact pouch to store their devices. The power bank has a drawstring mesh type storage pouch, the portable speaker is a soft type pouch in gray with drawstrings, and the earbuds have the coolest storage pouch out of them all with a metal pinch hinge opening type case which is also designed with a soft material.

Anyone here looking to get their smoky on may like the below deal. Perfect timing since Spring is just around the corner. Reg price almost $400....now 75% off if you can find ‘em.
