Do they make a clicker that has multiple buttons for different doors? I have seven garage door openers on one piece of property that would be handy to have as few clickers as possible. i've seen some four button remotes but not positive that i can program each button to a different door.

Depends on the brand but I know Liftmaster makes 2, 3 and 4 door models. I have one of the three door models for my various apartment garage doors. Some days they don't quite work well. I happen to notice it is on days where it is damp and cold outside. I think it's just the cheap apartment unit's though because I have noticed at times that when it happens their remotes don't work either.

If you have Liftmasters they have the "MyQ" app for smart phones, you can add as many doors as you want and open/ close them from the app on your phone. Not sure if this helps but thought I'd throw it out there

I have a chamberlain at one house that has the android app, pretty handy but not very efficient. i'll have to browse some. I don't mind having two clickers, that would be just fine if i could fit all the doors into them. I just pictured right off the bat my entire visor being covered in garage door remotes and knew i had to find a better way

I use the Garage Mate app. You can make your own receiver of buy them premade from Garage Mate.

I can open all, 4 doors of my place and the 2 doors of my folks. All from my phone.

I have 3 cars so I don't need 6 openers in all the cars. My phone is always with me.

3 buttons are very common and inexpensive..........fully programmable. I have 5 doors with five 3 buttons remotes ( plus two built in vehicle remotes ( 3 button) ) and color code the remotes and buttons to keep things straight. You might think those remotes have legs........cuz keeping them in place and “straight” is a challenge.

Two remotes are glued to the wall by the man door to allow wireless operation of any of the doors.

I did have one problem this winter........with modern door openers and rolling code remotes it’s not suppose to happen. BUT two of the doors became synced ( all by themselves) and would open and or close or one would open the other would closed with the same button. Relearned all the remotes all is good..........again guess that’s part of the keeping them “straight”.

With that many doors it seems the digital option would be your best bet.
Download one app and open whatever door you want. If no wifi that can be an issue for the app, but one app for close doors and one clicker for far doors would be nice.

I know these 3-button remotes can be programmed for different doors
(or one single button to open multiple doors, which could be an option for you)

and they're great, unless you accidentally breathe on them from across the room,
they you'll probably leave your garage doors open all night without knowing it.

^slight exaggeration, but not really. :wtf:

This happened to me as well,
I could not get door #2 to 'learn' button #2.....

so I tried to 'learn' it button #3...

still nope.

I finally gave up, hit button #1 (for door #1) and they both opened. :headscrat

I left it that way

What about a keypad opener for each door? You mount them on the outside on the door frame. You would have to buy 7 of them because you can only program one opener per door.

But then at least you would not need to carry any remote openers at all when you're at your property.

The downside is when the weather is bad. You still have to get out of the vehicle to punch in the code into the keypad to open the door.

So, What's the process to opening a door? I envision the following:

1. Take phone out of pocket when you pull into the driveway.
2. Unlock phone with password.
3. Open, and wait for app to load.
4. select which door to open.

Is that about right? If so, that makes me just want to keep using the 'ole clicker.....Reach up and push a button 50yards before the driveway and pull straight in with one motion, never having to stop.

Pretty much nailed it. It comes in handy now and then, but mainly for when i leave and forget to close the door, I can close it from anywhere, or open the door for large shipments etc without driving home.

With smart house stuff now days you can have an Alexa or google controlled door and have one of the smart devices in your car and use an app like tasker or something that tells your garage door to open as soon as it detects and connects to your wifi....

I see the benefit of operating it from a far, but other than that, it kind of seem like a pita.

I refuse to invite that ***** into my house. It's bad enough having a nosy neighbor like Google.:lol_hitti

I too have 7 garage doors.

My tractor has a 3 button remote that opens it's most used doors.

My Tahoe has two 3 button remotes, that covers 6 doors numbered with little stickers.

My golf cart has a 3 button remote with it's favorite doors.

I have the MyQ app on my phone that can control them all but it's not as easy as having a few remotes with the most frequently used doors programmed on the vehicles that use those doors.

If I could have a remote with 8 buttons that I could program that would be super nice, but probably not going to happen

yeah it doesn't seem like that will be an option any time soon. i did however find a four button remote from liftmaster, that will help out quite a bit

Wait, is this Shawn? It's Shawn isn't? :lol_hitti

You sound like a coworker of mine. He went and bought one of these to mow his HUGE 5 acre yard last year.

He said he needed A/C and a beer holder......He owns 2 Tahoe's and I believe a golf cart as well.

I will have a remote manufacturer name in a day, for you.

I did some consulting for a ( actually several ) fertilizer firm and had a bunch of doors and needed remotes in the loaders and train engines which would control all doors.

The remotes had two multiple position, rotary, switches. One had three positions ( A, B, and C ) the other had seven positions ( numbered 1 - 7 ) so each controlled up to 21 doors. As I recall, they did had models which handled fewer doors, but we used the 21 "channel" unit.

More tomorrow...

My take

Phone is often on charger in lap or on seat
1. Unlock phone with fingerprint by touching home button
2. Touch app on home screen, zero waiting
3. Select which door to open

Plus, I have the added benefit of not having a clunky looking clicker attached to my sun visors or a tempting device for thieves to steal if I leave the car unlocked. If you have a home link that’s not nearly as bad. Not having a clicker means no batteries to change either, because inherently they quit working when it’s pouring rain.

I am back, the remote transmitter that we used was a DoorKing. Actually the second rotary switch was a 9-position, the remotes could handle 27 different doors.

I would guess that technology has advanced, so a keypad could allow the selection of the door, instead of positioning two different switches, then pushing a button. I do remember that, while it did work, the loader operators weren't happy with the arrangement. I hope this helps some.
