Forgot to post some finds from a few weeks ago. The Swedish barrel knife was made by John Engstrom between 1874 and 1918. Not the most practical design, but still a nice knife. The door knob came from the same antique store. Not sure what "BN" or "NB" stood for. I've wanted the Reddy Kilowatt business card holder for the last two years and finally bought it. Everyone at work thinks Reddy is giving the bird, which is a nice bonus.5bb6f3279b946c337cd63bdb871fb753.jpga08aebaef422bee7ff58d40f84eec8f9.jpg980d0c1cdef67fac650d0000e67d99f3.jpg67a577bf329ba245716f502682809fc6.jpg247276b99ba44720fd318fe0d2662842.jpg4e4cb3fa835c83b50b1a6fd844a54253.jpgacf6854b95217be95f8a575106219151.jpgcc87fca82a1802779a06c83f5cd3ce44.jpg

It only holds a single card in the raised hand as a name badge for your desk. I'll take a picture with one tomorow when I go into work.

This weekend’s bounty. Check out the Dynamotor. Unfortunately someone stole a smaller hammer I bought when I got distracted at the flea market.1cd40a192ef10057ef48e0f3e047abb6.jpgaf733bb4d67cb39681b6d297736f478b.jpg350062e77e1447b0922b25f99e06b9a2.jpg7102b031aafd5e85d463e4d7891290cc.jpg

BB that's the same model Coke machine I have! I got it from the owner of the upholstery shop I worked part time at for fixing his truck. It's a bit faded, but Overall in good shape. All it really needs is the soft (Lead?) slug the screw that holds it shut replaced, and the paint rubbed out and waxed...

Glad to see you went back to rescue it!

I was half expecting you to plug it in... But that's probably why it ended up in the ravine in the first place...

Can't believe how good of shape it's been being buried like that for so long...

Status on those "[S.R.]" marked sockets is the same. Made by Plomb in the mid- to late-1940's, customer unknown, but definitively not Sturtevant-Richmont, a formerly popular but erroneous conclusion.

I just picked up an s.r. labeled socket because I thought it looked very plombish in its markings ! Sure am glad I picked it up!

Today Mrs LesserSon and I attended day two of the annual Super Gigantic Garage Sale at Ag Hall at the Great Allentown Fairgrounds (trumpet fanfare > crickets). Yeah, ah, $4 admission. Typical range of smalls, not much in the way of tools, but a few things to see. I passed up a Bon-E-Con with chipped chrome for $.50. Didn't ask a price for a Starrett 50ft reel tape. Not interested in a Plumb terriers hammer for $3. Left two Plomb pebble DOEs in the bottom of a toolbox. Left a dismantled wood vise in a cardboard box for $10. Identified two Vlchek slip joint pliers (thanks to Lugz’s discussion of the subject) from their distinctive curvy handle ends. One was plain steel with a forged 42, the other was plated with a forged 67 (I think) and (when turned over) a stamped Vlchek flying V logo near the pin. Is that 1942 and 1967? Seller wanted $1ea for them, but I feel like I have some already, though I can’t lay hands on them.

I’ve never seen any date codes on Vlchek pliers but the ones with the Flying V logo are quite rare. If you are able to find those there are several of us that would be happy to take them off your hands.:)

It says Bailey on the front so I don't know if this is a good deal or not but i didn't have this size and looks like it will clean up well with some elbow grease ! Also got the heritage craftsman hack saw and the metal 100' roll up tape measure ! Scored a few sockets including a plomb socket , a few p & c sockets and also scored a plomb made s.r. marked socket!

I didn't do any sales Friday or Saturday since I was a bit broke but sold some stuff for a good bit of coin Saturday and even more today so I figured I would hit the local flea market. It tends to be a bit of hit or miss but today was a HIT!

Pic 1, 2: One of the first booths I stopped at had old "The Yale and Towne Mfg Co" locks 2 for a buck! And on the "2 for a dollar" table I picked up the Weiser lock pin kit and the Budweiser picture. So 4 bucks total! Attention Jeff Moss!

Pic 3: The next find was the best of the YEAR so far for me. I looked in a new booth and
HOLY **** there is a Wilton Baby Bullet sitting there. So I ask how much and heard "10 bucks". So of course I say "I'll take it" as quick as I can! I also pick up the unknown clamp on swivel base vise, Palmgren angle drill press vise and Pexto adjustable wrench for $40 for everything including the Wilton! Plus I have his business card and am supposed to go look at more stuff this week! The other adjustable wrench on the far left is from the Meadville Wrench Co and was part of the deal in pic 4.

Pic 4: I picked up this fire hydrant and the previously mentioned Meadville wrench for $80 from a guy who just wanted to get rid of it.

Pic 5: The American lighter and 2 Union #1 adjustable wrenches were $13 total for my last find of the day.

On the way to pick up my drill press this weekend I hit an 'estate' sale- it was more like a junk sale/hoarders cleanout. I kind of love these ones, but usually about halfway through filling a bucket of stuff I wonder just where I fit on the hoarder/collector scale......
Anyway, here is the bucket and its contents- lots of cleanup to do, but there are some keepers in the 100 wrenches I bought.....

Cool! :) Could you get a pic of how it holds business cards? It's non-obvious with that design. (You can put the back side of the card facing the camera for privacy.)
Here is Reddy complete with business card.499ec358dc21e63062cf828aad77804d.jpg

But then there's another with fractions and millimeters, marked "No21". Is it also Bridgeport? I don't think I've seen this type before. Thoughts?
It's a BHM. See this thread, and especially my post #8, which includes a BHM No. 723 of this style (scroll down), and my post #14, which includes a snapshot from the 1940 BHM catalog showing this "Open Stock" style (as opposed to the "Pyramid" style) DOE wrenches.

I picked up that exact same plane a couple weeks ago for a wood worker buddy of mine at the flea for a buck. And I have family on Whidbey Island! Been there twice myself!

Keep an eye out for more SR tools I want a complete socket set, got a ratchet on the way... now I need n extension!

I took the PM route, missing in my excitement the fact that LS had left it behind!

LesserSon: My guess on the numbers is forge (die, mold) marks, which Vlchek is famous for leaving on all kinds of tools.

More of a what is it find...

Came across this. Derusted and some wire wheel work, no foundry marks or manufacturer info. Either a special hook wrench or a step for some climbing gear. Cast iron. Any ideas?

So came across a Lincoln Electric Weldanpower 150 AC. $35 at local Florida estate sale. No carb bowl or air intake assembly. But it turns and has compression. Going to get a new aftermarket carb, (any recommendations for good ebay dealers, pm me). Hope to get it running and then see if electrical end is working at all.

Perhaps an early predecessor of this kind of shelf bracket? Maybe not but that's what it reminded me of.

Looks like those wheels are designed to put tires on? I think I see a hole for a Schrader valve. I guess when the original ones dry-rotted, they didn't bother to replace them. :)

I've been waiting for the Great Ravine Expedition Part II since last year! [emoji38]

Thanks, fellas. I texted the picture of the upright machine with the door open to SWMBO. with a "We did it!" caption. She replied with "Now what?" The idea of restoring it, just to have the story to go with it, is appealing. But a man has to know when to say when. Right now, my original SWMBO (i.e. my Mom), is trying to find a buyer for it as is. We'll see.

The second sale was in Lafayette, CA and also had some cool stuff. The first picture is everything, the next is a 1/2" drive PowrKraft set in great condition. Next is a metric Thorsen set and some metric Indestro combo wrenches. The next shot is Diamond tools followed by more P&C. Last but not least is a 12" Barcalo adjustable.

Those Powerkraft sets appear to be Wright. The Tootsie Roll ratchet and extensions are dead ringers.

Let's see some better pics of those padlocks :)

I agree. The drive tools seem to be Wright and the wrenches are obviously Barcalo. I'm wondering if the sockets might be Thorsen.

ps: BB, the clamp-on is almost certainly millers falls; look for initials on the main screw head.
