I bought a container of the RLL, did a couple of ratchets with it, they leak all over the place, waste of money. When I get time I'll tear them back down and put grease in them, probably Mobil 28. Anything has to be better than having a ratchet leaking something that resembles red chainsaw bar oil.

This is what I use and it has worked great and doesn't leak that much... Works great in all my plomb ratchets, proto, snap on and even my dual 80's. Works great and never had a problem with it drying up. Also never had a problem in anything where I put to much in either.

A couple of months ago when i jumped on the ratchet-lube-bandwagon I couldnt find any RLL (full disclosure - i didnt really try that hard), so i experiemented with what I had on hand....this included mobil 1 "red" grease, some various oils, some white lithium, etc....

After a few weeks of experimentation with all my ratchets I actually settled on the factory grease that came with my Equal-i-zer trailer hitch. I dont goober them up particularly thick, but I have zero "ooze" after use and they are all very very smooth now (I suppose anything was better than nothing). My 2nd choice for smoothness would have been the mobil 1, but the ratchets I used those on seemed to have quite a bit of squeeze-out happening.

I have seen some oozing out of the mobil 1, but I would imagine less than the RLL, and it is also red so I call it RLL when I talk about it, . I like it because it is easy to find and never had a problem with it related to temperature.

I've found that mobil vactra #2 way oil works really well in ratchets.

I started using Super Lube Synthetic Grease a while back. Doen't leak, looks like the stuff that Snap-on uses and seems to work very well. No more than I use when cleaning a ratchet or wrench, that little 3 oz tube will last for years.

This is exactly what Snap On uses. When you get a rebuild kit it has a little tube of it and says Super Lube right one it! This is exactly what I use and seems to work great!

I use Castrol Lithium-based grease. Works better than Permatex and doesn't leak.

That's what I current use since it's what I had on hand and as long as you don't do an Elroy fill job, you're right, they don't leak much. It is kinda tacky though so if you put too much it will keep things from moving as they should.

Do you really want to be found buying a tube of ''super lube'' with a rainbow on it?

I just use shell avation grease its all i had when i last lubed all my ratchets and it seems to work well no leaking.

I just get the tubes of Super Lube at Harbor Freight. $4.57 minus whatever coupon I have.

I've loaded ratchets with disc brake bearing grease. they smooth out TOO much. i like my ratchets to click click click!!!

I mix my RLL with some silver anti seize and it stops a lot of the bleeding issues. It makes it a tad bit thicker and the ratchets still get the smoothing effect. I did around 25ratchets in the last few days. So far I am happy with the results. 6 of them were brand new Proto spin flex ratchets I gave to my kids for Christmas. They were almost bone dry. The anti seize and RLL did wonders for them.

For those of you not caring for the RLL bleeding, you might try anyone's brand of brake caliper lube. You can even get one of those single use packets from an auto parts store for less than a buck that would be enough to do 2-3 ratchets probably. A little dab will do ya,

I buy the above grease all day long for $5.81 a tube from my Lawson Rep.
But I think their best grease is the Persist made by Drummond American, Lawson's sister company. It is $6.39 a tube or $8.33 per aerosol can
