Lugz.... Did you see the original pressed paper box the Walden socket set was in!
Sure did! The smaller sets (No. 4 and No. 6) came in leather and press-board. Yours is a No. 4. Can you carefully clean/revive the lid? It should be marked.

The US Army Air Forces used that Type A-x, Type B-x, etc kind of nomenclature. I've had trouble lights and other things marked like that. All of it belongs together and has probably been together in that bag since the war. An amazing find.

I have several of those bags. They are handy!

Those 1/4-inch drive T-shaped pre-set torque wrenches (probably made by JO Mfgr in Soutgate/LA, Calif.) are also aircraft maintenance. Guessing also wartime. I've got a few of those, too.

Well shoot. I've scrapped a number of those, thinking they had a late 70s early 80s vibe, no clue they were that old. Got my estimilator wrong eh. They're fairly common in chainsaw repair country, aka logging country.

I wonder how well they've held their torque setting over the decades.

Me too. Some with a side compartment and flap, some with end compartments and flaps, and some with interior finger pockets for tools. All OD, all the same basic style and size. The only considerable changes were material and snaps. They're probably still issuing some variant.

JO Mfg was definitely around in the 1950's (different markings than wartime markings), not sure how long, but I wouldn't be surprised if they or at least their designs and stuff didn't get bought up and continued into the 70's and 80's. I will try to dig up my research.

EDIT: See the info I provided to RagTopTA in a query thread he started last year this time, linked here.

I've been following this thread through the last couple years and have never posted posted anything. This year I figured I would. Here's my first haul of the season. The price I paid..$0! I have this older gentleman that has been a repeat customer where I work that I have developed a friendship with and now he brings me old tools to have...really cool guy!

Craftsman circle H 3/8 socket set...missing a few sockets and I don't believe it's the original ratchet either.

2 manual hand drills. The silver one is a Stanley and the other is a Millers Falls (really think this one is a really cool piece).

Craftsman pipe/tube cutter.

Craftsman tape measure.

Weller model 800 sabre saw (works great but need to replace the cord because it's frayed at one part).

And a neat little hammer from Gam Mfg. Co. (Breaks down to multiple screwdrivers).

Wow, lucky guy!

Especially that little nesting Gam hammer, several people have posted here about finding one of those before, I hope to find (a vintage) one eventually... edit: didn't realize they're still (or were in recent years) being manufactured, though at reportedly reduced quality and $20+ pricing.

Hex, GAM wasn't the only company making those nesting driver sets. I've also seen one set posted that was Phillips. that's the one I want to find! If I get some energy, I'll post a pic of mine.

Snap On CJ117C Power Steering/Alternator pulley puller
Snap On CJ113 Power Steering/Alternator pulley installer
OTC7311 Puller
OTC 7249 Ball Joint Service Kit
Snap On CJ951 Bearing Separator
Snap On A78 Small bearing puller
Matco small slide hammer
and something else I've forgotten...what was it...

Anybody who includes an allusion to one of the best albums of all time (hint: Santana) in his username is welcome here! :)

That Craftsman (H) ratchet style is definitely older than that case, in the sense that it was being produced and put in cases since the late 1930's, but it could've come in that case in the very late 40's, a time of great transition for Craftsman. The 1948 catalog includes a mix of ratchet styles and cases. How are the Craftsman sockets marked?

Those Russian doll hammer/screwdrivers are nifty!

Hexen....yeah I about freaked out over that hammer! It brings back so many memories from getting yelled at for always losing the pieces to the one my dad had! Lol

Outlaw...yeah I've always known Weller for soldering tools too. Definitely was interesting to find out they had a sabre saw too.

Most if not all my nesting drivers. Some came with hammers, some didn't

In the second pic the Gams are all below that odd "hammer/Driver" with the sliding head.

The Top ones are NOT Gam, based on the threads don't match...

The sockets are marked (H) as well (pic below..sorry it's a little blurry). The reason I was guessing the ratchet didn't actually go with the set is because the ratchet is just a little to big to fit in the case. Then again it could just be the wrong case for the set.

So that's where they've all been hiding. ;)

The one at the bottom in the second picture, with the rough texture to the head, is probably that modern one as seen in the Amazon link in my previous reply.

I also notice that you haven't found a ball-peen one like lordabraxis's yet. :)

Someone posted a similar set in the Long C craftsman thread, and that set came with a breaker, not a ratchet.

I see. I thought you had the ratchet tilted like that to show the markings better. In that case, Outlaw is probably right about the box...

...but, that ratchet and those sockets match. Those sockets and that ratchets were made by New Britain for Sears & Roebuck from the late 1930's to 1948. The boxes they came in, with various handles did not have those embossed lines on it until 1948, in the transition period I was talking about. EDIT: The 9-pc set that came in that box was probably =CRAFTSMAN= =V=.

Not much to speak of at the early bird flea market this morning...

The speeder is a "Snap/on MILWAUKEE", no date code, and no model number (unless it's obscured by the grime/patina), but it's undoubtedly a No. 4 and 1920's vintage.

The small file handle is a DISSTON. The brand has worn off but that's their unmistakable patented spring tension ferrule.

I'm always on the lookout for little ignition screwdrivers (1-1/2" blade) with a pocket clip for WWII GMTK's.

And I never ever leave a tommy bar behind. Guessing this one is 7/16" diameter.

The other little bar is a sliding tee handle that has somehow become separated from its drive head. Will come in handy for something. (Oops, not visible in that photos)

The sockets (1/2- and 3/8-inch drive) are all =CRAFTSMAN= and =V= which is a very unusual purchase for me. These are not keepers. Twertsy, Don (d42jeep), and thehorse13 tell me that it's still selling like mad for dumb money. We'll see. Knowing my luck the wave has crashed and I'll be stuck with them. The guy threw in the tray, which is good because I am running out of trays for all the near-complete sets I am building.

I think, not sure but think, that tray is from C-man Heritage 10 drawer boxes. What are the dimensions?

I collected a couple of "new to me tools" over the past couple of days.

First up is a Jet JJ-6 Joiner. It's missing the cutting guard but hopefully it won't be too hard to find. Besides the guard it runs great.
IMG_1023.jpg

Next, I found a Bosch 11264evs at a pawn shop on the sketchy side of town . Ended up out the door for a little under $300. It looks brand new. I used the ground rod bit to drive in some rebar to test out and it did it in seconds. Now how the hell to get the rebar back out of the ground...
IMG_1024.jpg

Finally today I found an old Delta drill press on Craigslist for $75.

You might be able to get a replacement from Jet...

I have an old CMan which the part was discontinued. I found some nuts & bolt that fit the hole just right, made a guard from plywood... done...

It’s been a bad weekend for sales around here, but we stopped at one that was in its second week. Much to my surprise I found a few items for very little money. The DOE wrenches are a Williams and a Fairmount 731A. The DBE is a Vlchek. No day would be complete without a couple of Barcalo wrenches. The next two are Vlchek and pre S-K Lectrolite.

Can't beat free!
Definitely show us once installed. What countertop will you be going with?

MDF and a laminate, I reckon. Sent the wife to figure out what she likes and where she wants it, which buys me a bunch of time to work on other things in the meantime. :)
