No tools, but on my way to the food store today, I did manage to pick-up these items for my Gas & Oil / Motorcycle collections.

1. Master 1926 era metal oil spout and a Duraglas 1 Qt. glass oil bottle combo.
2. Marx 1930's era tin toy gas station pump with light socket inside.
3. 1986 Made in England AA Emergency Call Box tin toy bank with AA motorcycle and Patrolman graphics.

Looks like the toolboxes were sold empty. The "Supreme" company apparently has a habit of releasing limited-edition branded 'whatever they feel like' items each year, just for fun/collectors. Background: Supreme: The 50 Greatest Accessories of All Time

It follows then, that on some skateboard forum, exist that special breed of Supreme fanboys who insist Supreme socks are the best they've ever worn, who are sure that their Supreme driver gives them a better deal than my Supreme driver, who defend out of guilt the predatory credit game Supreme plays, and post up pics of all their GREEN handled Supreme stuff?:evil:

Well, went to a Barn Sale (antique pipe wrench for $80!) and a garage sale (nothing interesting) I stopped in a junk shop where I picked up this:

Rather clean looking, isn't it? Well, take a look at what was inside:

Yeah, clean on the inside too...
(It has been used, but not much, and the **/32 sockets weren't right for the box, though they had been in there for a long time. It was $50 but he had been asking $75 for a while. Feel pretty good about that!)
And although it isn't a tool, picked this bad boy up off of CL

Look at those faces! The claw feet! It needs a little work and reupholstery, but man is it cool. Wife is not really with it though... It is a genuine English Morris chair, a recliner even. Came out of the house they filmed Sometimes a Great Notion in. A little over $300.

 Maybe they borrowed the name from their vintage wrenches!

It's amazing that sets like that still show up in junk shops. Bravo to your good fortune, beemer. Also, good luck that you found something to trade me for the Craftsman 10-drawer cabinet tray!

Not sure what you mean by that. That's a wartime box. And the wartime sets had /32nds sockets (19, 21, 25, and 32). Those pebbled handles could be wartime, too. They were introduced in 1944. Hard to tell if the glare is due to high polish or chrome-plating, but if they have a natural steel finish, they're wartime, matching the box. If they're chrome, they're probably post-war. The embossing with the O's (PLOMB TOOL vs. PLVMB TVVL) is a red herring, no pun intended. Plomb had a massive backlog of tool boxes made in the late 1930's and they used them throughout the war, painting them green instead of the customary red. Boxes with both markings (PLOMB TOOL and PLVMB TVVL) are shown in the 1944-1946 catalog (#19-R REPRINT) and lots of wartime sets show up in the "older" boxes.

Or do you mean that the /32nds sockets in the set were older than the late 30's/40's 54xx series socket style?

I guess you could call it a tool, gotta have something to cook with. Freebie from a neighbor down the street and around the corner. They haven't used it in years and had already sold it two years ago to donate the proceeds to to a local dog rescue. The purchaser never came to get it, they just made the donation. My wife mentioned that she was looking at a Green Egg and they told us to come get theirs before they pushed it to the road with a "free" sign on it. I pressure washed the table and cleaned out the egg. Going to Northern Tool in the morning to pick up some new wheels and some L brackets to square and stiffen up the table as it is a bit loose. Will treat the teak before putting it back in use.

Lugz, the /32's are of different vintages than the rest; Proto LA, Plomb LA. The set is chrome, so post-war.

And this one is staying with me! (I did find a couple things on your list though...)

Ah, okay. Interesting. I didn't know Plomb was still making /32nd sockets in the Proto period. Most mfgrs were phasing them out. The Plomb LA would match the box if it was red. Haha. The handles are late for that box. Maybe one of those kits they sold at a huge discount to vets.

Look at those faces! The claw feet! It needs a little work and reupholstery, but man is it cool. Wife is not really with it though... It is a genuine English Morris chair, a recliner even. Came out of the house they filmed Sometimes a Great Notion in. A little over $300.

That chair is screaming to be re-covered in Blood Red leather. Literally.

I think ALL “Morris chairs” are recliners, by definition. Good price. I’d suggest looking into genuine William Morris pattern fabric if you do consider reupholstery. Maybe your wife would warm up to it if it sported a lighter-tone “Beauty & the Beast” vibe.
Nice Plomb, too!

Well, today, despite freezing temps, Mrs LesserSon and I got out to our FIRST actual garage sale of the year, advertised to start at 8am. Arrived at 8am, waited 15 minutes, noting some drive-bys. Took a break from stake-out to get a coffee and donut, then called the contact number. Older (than me, at least) gentleman selling his house as well, said he had had a bad night. Garage was pretty tightly packed with a wide range (quality-wise) of plumbing, welding and general stuff, most of which I don’t have space or need for. Some highlights: brown crinkle Kennedy top box and roller, no-name wondervise looking 1990ish, a Workmate with the skeletal cast uprights & pressed-steel feet, a swivel stool with backrest and 360° footrest. I really considered these, and I suppose they will haunt me for a time, but...I had a Workmate I bought new in the 1980s, and eventually tossed. The stool was WAY high in the ceiling joists, surrounded by dubious massive objects, and life is still precious to me. And the Kennedy was an orphanage of clutter...couple Snap-on adapters, couple MATCO sockets, empty Starrett pouch, but mostly mysterium-alloy whatsits.
So after pawing though his boxes and drawers (these were labeled screwdrivers, hammers, pliers, etc., but nothing I needed) for half an hour, I presented him with the rusty handfull in the pic and we settled on a dollar: two Bonney 12pt A-sockets (redundant to my set, alas) a suspected LD sparkplug socket (it may be too corroded to tell), and a random wing nut.
Update - yeah, I can only see one spot (at the bottom) on the long socket that has regular marks, which I don't recognize.
NEXT weekend should be MUCH better, with the annual opening of some local fleas.

Oh, man, now that drowning scene is going to be in my head all day. Ken Kesey, one of our most underrated writers!

bmw, mixed heritage or not that's a fantastic find.
Absolutely. I shouldn't have dove right into the details without acknowledging that up front. Beemer - you should definitely post it in the Plomb thread, which is currently in the middle of a Pebble hinge handle frenzy.

If ever there was a chair to sit and admire your Plomb collection...
Haha. Perfect comment!

Some interesting pieces in here. Details later.

View media item 82123
Edit:

CONTENTS (Top to bottom, left to right)

- Unknown tool, Sawyer Tool Co / Fitchburg, Mass. U.S.A., dates to 1898 (I never heard of this outfit before!)

- Unmarked ignition screwdrivers

- Wartime Bonney BW8 adjustable crescent wrench

- Two (2) Proto L.A. 6" adjustable crescent wrenches, J.P. Danielson, 1950, 1955

- 8" machinist dividers, Lowentraub Mfgr Co, Newark, N.J., with martial "< U. S.>" mark, MADE IN AMERICA. I'm pretty sure this is WWI or interwar. (Another first!)

- Dwarfie offset DBEs are Plvmb 8161 and an Indestro

- Antique era farm tool is a #3 PLANET JR

- Tin/leather punch is marked "Elizabeth, N.J." on the tang and "A.S.F.&T. CO." on the flip side. I expected it to be a Kraeuter. (Third of three tool makers I had never heard of - all on same day!)

- The midget box has "CHROME ALLOY" sockets with a satin finish base and polished walls. The guy told me he just sold the ratchet 15 minutes before I got there. Needless to say, I was disappointed to hear that. He couldn't remember what it was, but if my memory is correct, I believe this was a Williams line. He sold the rat for $10. The guy could've had the whole kit for $15! Now he orphaned the sockets! Grrrr! Oh well, something to look for.

- Tappet wrenches are both wartime, a Vlchek ALLOY STEEL 92, and a cad-plated Lectrolite marked like I have never seen before.

- DOE's are another Made in England 'Snail' logo and a wartime Herbrand.

- The robust female-female knuckle joint is a Walden-Worcester 1102, also appears to be cad-plated.

I'll be posting more close-ups here and other threads

Am I seeing 3 Mitutoyo combo square sets in there, AND 3 Mitutoyo long travel dial indicators? I hope you have an ebay account, you can probably sell just those 6 things and get your money back...

BMW great score! I went out to a garage sale this morning after seeing what I thought was a craftsman 5180 vise in his add. He said it sold five minutes before he opened. But I still picked some stuff up for 25 bucks.

Thanks Outlaw.
I have no use for them.
They were in a bag with the Snap On driver.
Drill bits are all USA.
Pry bar is a little Craftsman crown top.
Neat little Cincinnati clamp.

Small haul, Weird day with the sellers.

One guy got upset as I was looking though a box of Leather working tools/supplies and insisted I stop and "put everything back! it all goes together!" Dang.. is it a full moon?

Another guy wanted $500 for an old Sansui receiver, knobs falling off, one missing, clearly not used in decades... Clearly had NO CLUE what it was...

Other sellers were just strange. :wtf:

Pics are in sort of random order; Anyway, First stop had 5 metric Craftsman Sockets, the Gloves, and the paint pole extension. I like this one as it has a locking hole for the pin every 6" and is quick to adjust. $5

The Brass "W" was cents, fifty.

The T bar Spinner is a Herbrand. I need a ball to center the spinner handle and crimp that back in place. the "dog tag" screwdriver is Crafsman, and the Makita hex driver with the torque handle. $2 all

The File holder and 1/2 full can of Coleman fuel were another $2. I think that file holder is for getting saw blade teeth all the same height before sharpening.

The Channellock 460's Corona Mini loppers and a 1" SK deep socket I had left in the car when pics were happening were $5.

You'll easily double your money and end up with a free Xcelite set.

You ****.

If I sell most of it cheaper than what stuff has previously sold for Ill be looking at around $1800
What's the story on all that? Some of those are still new in packaging!
The garage was jam packed full of stuff. I cleaned out most of the machinist stuff on the 3rd day. Not real sure what he did but most of everything was new or barley used. They went bat **** crazy pricing stuff. They had precision screwdrivers marked $5 each, there were single craftsman sockets with $4 price tags. I went on day 2 and they wouldnt budge on prices they said they were going to drop it by 30% on Saturday but when I showed up they dropped it to %50 off. Besides me and one other guy we were the only ones buying a large amount and they still didnt budge off the %50 off mark. From the pre sale pictures to when I was there today I would say they still have %75 of the garage contents after 3 days. Not good in my opinion... They plan to hold it again in a month and may bring out more tools. I may go back and try to clean up because there was still PLENTY of nice stuff but still over price at half off.

Yea there is $475 in the travel indicators alone, and the Starrett 682 Saw Blade tension gage gets $300 fairly easy. If something wasnt marked they would spend 5 minutes looking up the price in front of you on their phone and it would be close to full blown ebay price.
