This Swiss Tool X Plus Ratchet arrived today . . .
Not finish flaws but reflections in the high polish chrome that I wasn't going to get rid of without using a lighting tent and I wasn't going to set that up with all the lights required for it. ;-)

It will become one of the go-to tools around the house for the quick and dirty, along with carry on occasions when I might need more than just the Woodsman or Champion SAK but still confined to light duty smaller things. About the size I expected and a tad heavier (that's OK). So far I'm impressed.

You'll like it. It's my go to for regular work over my 18V DeWalt stuff. Just so much lighter and easier to deal with. Despite what some may think - you CAN have too much torque. I have a lot of Nextec stuff - none of it has let me down. I have even more DeWalt stuff. It gets used less often.

Nice Mayhew 28680 (AKA Snap On SHCP1A or Matco #HCPF90) hose clamp pliers. I luv mine a hundred times more than the Astro set they replaced.

What's that laying on top of them?

I'm probably going to replace the coolant expansion tank on my 911 this next weekend. A 15 minute ordeal on most cars; about a 1.5-2hr task on a 911. Looking for a good set of hose clamp pliers to pick up. Looks like I'm going with the Mayhews!:)

I've been wanting a set if those Bondhus in metric for my bike tool set. Wish the long end was a ball end. How is the swivel?

Bondhus has long ball end sets with the ball on the long end.

Bondhus metric ball end in briteguard finish:
set of 15; 1.27-10mm: 17095
set of 9; 1.5-10mm: 17099
http://www.bondhus.com/bondhus_products/tool_categories/l-wrenches/briteguard.html

Metric ball end in proguard (black) finish:
set of 15; 1.27-10mm: 10995
set of 9; 1.5-10mm: 10999
http://www.bondhus.com/bondhus_products/tool_categories/l-wrenches/ball.html

Search for Bondhus and the set number on Amazon. Bought the Brightguard set there.

Ordered a few things from Cripe.. I've been eying the 1/2" Gearwrench USA swivels for a while so I finally bought them. The 1/2" Armstrong ratchet was the only one I didn't have.. and also a SK 19mm from the socket of the month b08a680a7ae0f22d915bad33e53353cd.jpg

There swivel is very stout, and flexes freely. The pivot is an adjustable screw. They are really handy!

Do you have a link to the 1/2” swivels?

I really wish our shop was big enough that I could use a tool cart like that. It looks awesome I’m drooling over the orange!

Been loving every second of transferring tools into it! Will make working in my home garage a lot more enjoyable. :)

This Titan pliers set arrived yesterday. They're smaller pliers, but that's what I wanted for smaller electrical and electronics use. I've got bigger and beefier already if I need it, but you can't use them very easily on small electronics.

40491808694_27b521f814_b.jpg

Grips TPR. They're not soft, squishy, or very pliable, which I prefer. Extends nearly to the pivot on all but the slip joint which it cannot without interfering with the pivot, and I like that as well as it allows choking up on them easier. I don't trust any stuff on the handles like this to provide protection from electric shock. I've worked on stuff over 1kV and been tossed across a room by 750 Volts. Some guys will routinely work hot. I don't unless absolutely required for the task at hand, and removing power being inconvenient doesn't qualify for that. The 750 event was neutralizing a transmitter final, which must be done at full power and key down (transmitting RF).

Can't say they're high precision tools like Knipex, but for what I'm going to do with them, their precision suffices, they'll do the job on low torque tasks without bending or breaking, and the price was excellent. Cannot justify spending money on overkill.

This is what $100 would buy you at Sears. Of course I didn't pay that much thanks to warranty exchanges, I'm in at about $5.......
