Hello,

I'm trying to find some guys that make needle grease fittings like the one pictured. I am having trouble contacting the guys listed in the picture so I'm just enlisting the aviation mechs out there who may know where I can find something similar.

I need a few tips that are maybe straight, 90, 45, and a reverse 45.

Thanks in advance!

When I was in the Air Force, we used to get those exact ones thru Grainger. Not sure if it’s still available through them but maybe also try the Legacy L2550 kit.

I saw these, I just have to see if I can swap out the zerk fitting... I don't really like the idea of a zerk fitting on a tool, would rather have something that i can thread on... (I don't need another wobbly connection),

I'll just get a hold of the guys I posted in the original picture.

I’ve used a needle attachment with a zerk fitting on the end with a lock n lube and had zero issues with wobbling or grease escaping between the two fittings

Ahh I didn’t think about the lock n lube, I’m just on the track of having the push on coupler... thanks for the tip!

i have a curious question, i was in an aircraft maintenance facility and they were disassembling the flaps on the aircraft wing and every joint i could see had a grease fitting.......yet it was very obviously never greased. is there certain grease fittings you purposely dont grease on an aircraft for some reason?

Plenty of reasons why you couldn’t see grease... usually before major maintenance the aircraft would be pressure washed, leaving all tell tale signs around zerk fittings and joints. During disassembly, the frame and practically every structural component is cleaned thoroughly to inspect for structural integrity issues, at least that’s how we did things in the Air Force.

There are some locations on various aircraft that get very specific amounts of injected lubricants at specified intervals. We lubed a set of leading edge flaps after a major washing. Book had old data and we pumped over 100 shots of lube into each fitting, per the book. Aircraft came back from a functional flight check and both wings looked like we had painted them with grease. Book was missing a qualifier in the procedure.

Some are greaseless fittings... at least on the aircraft I work on.

A lot of hydraulic props are like that too... don't overgrease or else you will have a big mess to clean up around the nose cowl

ok cool thanks! i was astonished at just how many grease fittings there was! if i had to guess there must have been over 100 grease fittings on the plane

Heavy equipment just uses a lot of grease... aviation just has a lot of grease points especially on the landing gear

so just to learn do planes use a special aviation grease?

Depends on what you are lubing. We use a variety of specialty lubes that vary based on application and the temperature of the operating environment.

For example, most of the one we use are for temps up to 250F, but there are some that are good for temps in excess of 350F. There are others we use that are formulated for use where there is a high probability of water intrusion, such as the landing gear. Still others are formulated for parts that have high cyclic rates with large loads.

On a light airplane, there might be three or four different lubes used. It's to the point that no single lube can cover every need anymore.

We use a ton of difference greases depending on application, location, temperatures, etc...

I couldn’t list all the Aviation type greases... but here are the common ones we use on Gulfstream aircraft (and common to a lot of aircraft)

Mobilgrease 28 - Wheel bearings
Aeroshell 7 or 33 - Landing gear components
Aeroshell 33MS or 64 - Molybdenum based lube

Here's a little update to not get off of the original topic. I was able to get a hold of GW Lube Tools, they are legitimately a mom and pop operation... I really can appreciate the hard work of good old American made tools and service of "the little guys". I've placed an order with them and will report back with some photos and pricing for those who are interested/curious. Standby

All I can say is wow... these are super nice. I went fancy with the quick disconnect fittings. Not pictured are a double swivel hose and another extension for zerk fittings.

Paid I think like $240 Shipped.

This is a true mom and pop shop, American made tools... support local business folks. I don’t think it was over priced, very fair. There are grease kits out there in the $400 range... shop around and I’m glad I found these guys.
