I acquired an Accurate Instrument BT-162 dwell meter but unfortunately it did not include an instruction manual. I wonder if anyone has a copy which he can kindly scan and email to me at [email protected]. Thanks.

For information purposes. The dwell signal sent by the original computer controlled cars before the car went into closed loop was a exactly 30 degree dwell signal. I remember checking a few dwell meters back in the 80's to see if they were accurate and working correctly. Not much instructions on dwell meter, Hook to coil- crank/run engine and read/set dwell. Set the number of cylinders was the only other thing you had to do on them.

Here's one for you. My 70 Challenger T/A had dual points. They were looking for more dwell at higher rpm but you cannot just back off the points for a longer dwell. They will not open enough and burn. They installed a second set on the opposite side of the distributor that was offset a little from 180° and wired in parallel with the first set. You put a piece of cardboard in one set of points and adjusted the other set for 30°. With both sets adjusted, the total dwell was 40°.

I was given a dual point distributor that fits the BMW 2002 engine.
I have not messed with it yet though.
(still, fun for show'n'tell)
