These I didnt lose in the drawer... Best wire strippers around for quick electrical work. Small diameter. Auto strippers. I think irwin makes a version now but these work well. Dont know about other brands.20180404_131427.jpg

I have those. But mine have not held up that well. The plastic handles have broken off. This is likely fromme dropping them or trying to crimp things that are to big for the pliers. :(

I do have tons of electrical connectors and solder and many many other things in my electrical box with radio shack on them. I do miss them.

Mine never saw heavy use. Stripping wire for electrical components/circuit board jumpers and the like. I seriously doubt they would make it jostling around in a tool box for years doing any real work. I bought those in high school doing car audio in the summers. They were like 20 bucks which wasnt throw away for me back then. I tried to take care of them and theu have held up ok. Some rust here and there but still function fine.

There aren't as many stores as there used to be, but Radio Shack is still around. I just checked their website and there must be 50 of them in Minnesota alone.

Yeah, but there stock and target consumer have changed. They are but a cell phone dealer and token electronic toy store now. Last time I was in a Radio Shack I asked the kid where the resistors were and got a blank stare in response. The other guy pointed me to a single bin of small drawers. I remember going in there with my grandfather and filling up a bag with components just to play with and see what I could make.

Yeah we still have a Radio Shack just around the corner from my work. Went in there just a couple weeks back looking for some capacitors, resistors, etc and had the shack #s at the ready just as I had done in the past as it was always a lot easier for both me and the store clerk. Turns out they haven't bought any Radio Shack branded anything in years. Their system wouldn't even let him look up a Shack # to cross-reference anything on the list for me. I had to use google on my phone.

Rat Shack......the last time I walked into a Radio Shack (which was a few years or so ago) I went in looking to buy some resistors, capacitors, etc. and then Jr. walks up (some young kid clerk) and ask if he could help me find what I need.

I ask him where are their resistors and capacitors located, etc. and he has this puzzled look on his face then ask me...."what....what are those"?

At that point I just said forget it then started walking towards the door and he follows up with...."Sir do you need a new phone or any accessories"?

I just replied..."No"....shake my head and walk out.

That was the last time.

I went to the local store maybe 5 years ago to get some 1F capacitors. Asked the young guy behind the counter if they had them. He said yes and took me to the cabinet, showed me where they were. Asked if I needed any other components or wire.

I have many rolls of Radio Shack solder... I feel like we all have one item in our shop that we lose and re-buy on the rare occasion that we need it.

For me, it's solder. I never use it and probably have 2-3 lbs of various diameters.
