Planning on a Rotary SPO10. What arm configuration makes the most sense? I will mostly be picking up Honda's, Vetts, Stangs to F150's and all in between with occasional F350 Dually and the like.

I like the screwable pads, but honestly have little to no experience. I could use some sage advice from those with experience.

I just recently had an SPO10 installed in my new shop and I went with the 3-stage arms with screw-in truck adapters.

I will be using the hoist to lift everything from old VW Beetles to 3/4 ton GM trucks, but mostly 1960's GM cars. I think the truck adapters are the most versatile choice for my needs. I like the turned up lips on the lift pads, as these will prevent lateral movement of vehicles (particularly those with frames) when up on the lift.

Lifted my 68 Camaro the other day with no problems.

Nice, I might go that route and also get some round screw in pads later. Most of what I plan to lift is 2000 and newer cars with one older Isuzu NPR with 14ft dump bed weighing 8k. Not critical I can lift it, but certainly will try.

The price delta between the two will easily depreciate over time. We are rv people and will not regret the extra capacity.

Reading online, it seems the SPO12 can do everything the SPO10 can and lift more. Seems an easy choice. Yes is costs more but I can't imagine regretting the extra capacity.

Look at the physical size of the posts and arms of the two models. Can you deal with the extra height of the arms, if any or the larger post footprint.

Bigger isn’t always better.

Overall width 11’5” Drive through 8’6” on both. SPO12 is 2ft taller at 13,8” . I agree three stage arms are essentially the same. Both configured with truck adapters show 80” lift.
It’s essentially the same as a spo10 with more lift capacity and talker vehicle capability.

If you get the three stage arms it's essentially the same. That lower height is for the trio arms which are not the same.

It appears you can get the arms lower in both with the round screw in pads.

SPOA10 here. Feel stupid for not buying it years ago. Wonder how the hell I ever got along 22 years without one.

Nice, mine is being installed next week. I have a stack of cardboard from big boxes we used for years for sliding around under cars on jack stands. Always wanted a lift but just never got around to serious planning. Built a new RV garage last year and extended it so I had room for a lift.
Hats off to Garage Journal members for helping me through all of this. Great bunch of people hang out here.

I have 3 stage arms and screwable pads, they also have extensions that the pads sit in. I can pick my Wifes Rav, My 67 mustand, My 2013 GMC 2500 Hd, extended cab with 8 ft bed. I've also lifted my 95 3500HD bucket truck, can only lift it about 2ft but makes it easy to do brakes.

That’s standard height
The spo10 also available in 13’8”

Ya if you pay for the extension. That starts chipping into the delta between the SPO10 and SPO12. Was talking to a plumber friend today and he is excited my lift can pick up his rig.

I was out today measuring and putting tape down where the legs go. Want to make sure there is room for an RV to still fit on either side. Plenty of room and will be running wire and adding lights over the weekend.

I have two of those in my home shop, day shop also has pair of those as well, but during day I mainly work off a pair of 18k’s. Spo12 most versatile

That's what I heard about the SPO12. Local dealer has one in stock and should be up mid week.
Once again I want to thank all on Garage Journal for being such a great group of people.

My spo12’s are side by side in Home shop, today one had a late model bmw m3 picked up by pickup pads, and hoist next to it had an extended cab long wheelbase (84” ca) f450 dump truck
Lifted both perfect and safely

I am considering going with the spo12 EH2 since it's going in a 16ft building. Then I could lift my RV a few feet and any future tall stuff I get. zkdiesel how tall are yours?

I am getting a SPO12. Just considering the EH2 for extra height. Will have truck adapters.

Trio arms are only row part with a slot in the second stage that gives some adjustable freedom. Big difference is trio actually gives three different sets of pads that easily interchange. At least that was my understanding when at a dealer Thursday. I was less interested as I had no interest in asymmetrical.

Mine are 14’s. Work in a truck shop and for most part 16’s are a waste of cash

Ya honestly I would just lift high enough to change tires anyway. Most rv’s that are short enough to lift won’t be over 12 ft anyway. They would have to likely order one if I changed and delay install. Only upside is I could order it in black. Mine is going to be blue.

Lifting most rv’s is hard enough. Side panels, generators, tanks, and wiring/plumbing almost makes arm placement near impossible depending on setup. Floor jacks or axle lifts are preferred Just trying to realistic with you, and picking up trailers for tire removal the arms always end up in the way......

I’d only spend the time to rack a pita rv if I was doing something g major. Tire replacement or normal maintence I’d work off jacks or axle lifts as it’s so much quicker

Blue lifts stay cleaner looking, the blacks attract and show major dust

Sounds good. I will end up with blue and standard height. Honestly I take my RV to the truck service place for tire work. Those things are a bit heavier than I care to lift.

I'll post a pic to "prove" it happened. :)

Holy cow. Is that limo being lifted but two lifts? Looks like a asymetric on the front. My shop won’t be that cool.
