I want to display flags in garage
I have dual citizenship and I'm proud to be American

Now I want to display both flags in garage but I'm not sure what is proper way to do so without offending anyone.

Should I place American flag higher than other and how much approximately or same level?

Some people live to be offended so whatever you do you'll find someone who isn't cool with it. I would put the US flag up by the ceiling and everything else under it.

We fly our USA flag from the flagpole out in the driveway. Put it up every morning and take her down every evening. It’s your garage! Folk who are offended by what’s on the walls of my shop just don’t visit much. I am ok with that!

(g) When flags of two or more nations are displayed, they are to be flown from separate staffs of the same height. The flags should be of approximately equal size. International usage forbids the display of the flag of one nation above that of another nation in time of peace

The above is copied from the flag code, http://www.usflag.org/uscode36.html#173 . Read it and make your own decisions. There are other items to note that will also constitute proper display.

I fly the flag of the United States of America as well as the state of Texas flag at equal angles and heights, regardless, out on the front of our house.

Yes even though Texas is now an official state of the union of the United States of America, before it actually was admitted to the Union, it was a world recognized Republic Nation all it's own. Texas, all on it's own, has earned that right with the cost of live's along with blood, sweat and tears.

Believe it or not there is a building in London, England that used to be the official Texas embassy and now is a restaurant.

As for displaying any other country's official flag, well as Post # 5 states, officially it should be displayed at the same height, level, etc.

Last, I don't care what anyone thinks or says, HOA, neighbors, etc.....nobody....but nobody is going to tell me that I can't fly or display a flag(s) outside my own home or what type, etc. **** that!Texas Embassy downtown London England.jpgLondonTexasLegationPlaque2.jpg

OP, are you in the USA ?

Do as you please but I can't comment if you are located elsewhere and what other countries have as far as flag code.

Well it says that when displayed with the flag of another country, they are to be displayed at the same level.
If you do that and someone complains, tell them to **** off and learn the rules

The romantic hills of central Umbria, Italy,
Our American Legion post puts out a pamphlet on flag C&C, I think the scouts do the same...

If outside America follow your own countries rules on flag customs and courtesy.

And if on a pirate ship... well... never mind.

I'm a proud American, but it's your garage. Anyone doesn't like how you display them can get on down the road. The fact you're asking means you care. Too many people getting offended about everything these days.

Do what you want.

I have a 6' x 10' thin blue line American flag painted on my wall with a Texas flag closer to the bottom. Not same height level but right there with it. Some may also get offended that I don't have a regular American flag and a thin blue line flag, but hey it's my garage I do what I want.

We fly a Canadian flag on an angled pole on the front of our attached garage. I have done this for years.

Your an American... Land of the free... Do as you please. IMO, I'd put them both at the same level to show respect to both countries that you love. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.
