I stopped at a sale today on the way home. That's where I found two nice old boxes for give away pricing. 12 bucks each.

A 1958 Snap-On KR-421 and a nice late 50s Proto top box. They both function so who could leave these behind? Certainly not me. They will clean up beautifully once I get rid of all the crappy spray paint and fix some bends here and there. No holes, no rust, no rat droppings...it's a good day.

I travel to WV 2 or 3 times a month. I’d like to have that 421 enough that I was searching Google Maps today to figure out where Jefferson Co is. Sadly, I dont usually get closer than Morgantown.

The badge on that Proto looks newer than late 50’s to me?

The Proto may be newer. I went solely by the handles which look late 50s to me. I will have to look for date codes on it when I eventually clean it. Someone here will know for sure.

The Snap-On is easy. It's dated in the center rear of the box.

All in all, a good day out in the woods.

You guys only see the days when I am successful in finding stuff. There are plenty more times when all I turn up are broken plastic toys and worn out underwear.

If you move here, you'll have to compete with Twertsy. He lives down the road from me. I have to grab things when I see them because Twertsy's Tool Temple has the entire mid-atlantic region on lock. I think there must be a vortex that ***** all cool stuff to his shop before I can find it. lol

Good finds, regardless.

Yea, I'm really happy with the KR-421. That's all I wanted but the seller told me that I needed to bundle both boxes. I wasn't going to argue. I would have paid $24 for the KR-421 alone. :)

I hope this is OK - if not, mods please delete the post.

This morning at a garage sale, I found this KTA-231 socket tray stamped with 61. I don't have any real use for it - but if someone here is looking for one to complete your collection, I can help. I am NOT looking to sell - we can trade or whatever - just looking to help someone out.

It's in great shape, other than the paint is peeling. No dings or rust, etc. You would probably have to repaint it.

I have a couple older boxes I'm thinking about parting with to consolidate all the tools to the bigger tool boxes. I don't know a lot about them, so would love any insight you guys have on them as far as age and if they have any value. I really like the sk box so really on the fence about getting rid of that one! Here are a few pics! Thanks for any insight guys!

7D2, I really like that Remline. I’ve been keeping an eye iut for a Remlineor a PowerKraft for my next acquisition. Tough to come by in my area.

Crane, I believe those SO badges to be misapplied. Those boxes dont look like SO to me, certainly not SO that would match the ‘94+ vintage of those badges.

TheCraneGuy, I agree with Tynee. I think those might be Waterloo with Snap ON badges.
Please see attached image I got from internet - somewhat similar style

Need a little help here gents anyone point me in the right direction on where to locate the date code stamp on this Mac box. The guy i bought it from says it was his grandfathers box handed down to him. I am guessing at about 30 to 40 years old could be way off on this estimate.

It should be on the back lower right unless it predates the stampings.

It's almost always very faint, so you need really good light.

Picked up this little tool box at a farm machinery sale yesterday,
I though at first it was a apprentice type box but on closer inspection it seems factory made , it will make a handy little box for something once it’s cleaned up,
( That’s my Samsung phone for size comparison)

Well I've caught the bug. After scoring a sweet vintage mac box a while back I kept trolling the web locally.

I had been looking for a craftsman as I liked their style a lot. I missed out on a beauty before I stumbled on the mac but then two days back I found kijiji gold!

Here it is after I cleaned it up, a beauty for $100!

Banjo: either you forgot to post up the pictures or they are not showing, but nice find and hope to see it soon.

Crane: Snap on had MBC (also MB Century is another name to google) make some of their boxes so if it's a bit older that would be a possibility. here's m

Must predate the stampings outlaw could not find nothing there. Took it down to bare metal with steel wool. used magnifying glass and nothing.

Here is a little Kennedy box that I picked up this week at an estate sale. I hadn't seen one in this style before, so for $14 I thought I should probably buy it. It cleaned up alright.

This will require a lot of work but if you have enough time and skills, this would look great. However, I think it is missing a top draw. I would offer less and see where it goes if you can restore it.

If I saw this one in good condition, I would have considered it...

P.S. The owner has a Mercedes W124 and Honda CRX in the back - person likes cars!

Is it a pull out shelf or is it a cover for the drawers......on the bottom box.....I was thinking 30 would be fair
