snap on part number

i need some of the screws that hold the lever to the locking mechanism. it is the same screw that they were using in the 70's.

when they sell you a new lock, the screw is not included, and i cannot find the page that lists it.

so, if you have a packing list with that number, or have saved the web page for it, i would appreciate you sharing it.

i'd grab the lock, visit a local hardware store...

thats what i did many years ago when i re keyed a bunch of my work boxes.

some of the screws were quite long enough...

i tried that. it is shorter than anything they have. i was able to buy a bag of the ones used to attach drawers to the sliders online, but no luck with these.

Thread a nut on it and cut it off the length you need

well, in case anyone is ever looking, here is the part number:

8-18337-4 #12-24X.25 SHHMS

as of mid 2018, they are 85 cents each.

they work on locks all the way back to the 1970's up until the locks you get today.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just make a 12x24x1/4 screw out of a 2 cent 1/2 inch screw?
How special are the 85 cent ones?
