HF Crimper dual use?

I have an E Stop actuator that I will be installing in my Mustang. It is a 66 and had that hand pulled handle under the dash, but the installation of an X pipe and Gearvendor overdrive the lower lever just doesn't fit. I've seen some pictures of this mounted to the floor in early Mustangs, they routed the cables through the floor to connect to the actuator. This will require cutting the cables and then installing cable stops, the equipment to do these crimps is pretty expensive for what amounts to a one time use.

I need to extend the power supply wires for the Holley EFI and will be using 8 gauge wire for this extension. I have crimpers suitable from 10 gauge down, so in searching I came across this crimper from HF. Do you think I could use it to make the crimps necessary on the parking brake cables as well?

I’m gonna say I doubt it will make a proper cable crimp as the ferrules for cables are usually crimped a different shape than wire terminals. But at 54 bucks it might be worth a try.

I think that for making wire rope connections like this, that will have a lot of force applied, you may need a different type of connection and tool - why not ask the company.

hoping to crimp stops to shorten some garage door cables, & it exceeded my expectations.
I tested it on 1/4" steel tall nut & it easily closed up the hole.

The HF crimper is a very good tool. It is worth owning. The one major criticism is the dies are sized completely incorrect. It takes a little work with a die grinder to get really good crimps. We had a discussion on here a week or two ago on good crimps and what they look like if you care.

The included dies are not going to be correct for crimping a cable ferrule. You could probably make something work, but I'm incline to not. I live around water so it is really cheap and easy to have cable made properly. There is lots of call for it in the sailing and boating communities. That may not be true everywhere.

We have or had one here at work. It looks like a set of bolt cutters but with circles in the end for crimping.
I need to look into this E-Stopp device for my '66 as well. I've got a Versailles rearend that I'm swapping the brakes over on using SN95 calipers with adapter plates. That under dash pull handle is a joke!

Scott, I was able to purchase that under a group buy program that someone on the Vintage Mustang forum. I can't remember what the savings was but is made the purchase decision much easier.

I got to a point where I won first place at a local show and parked it in the garage and have not touched it since. The wife is threatening to sell if I don't do something soon.
Need a new 9" center section but in 3:55 instead of 4:11 and a few suspension mods. Went with the Rod & Custom 4 link. Top links are hard Heim joints that transfer all noise into the chassis. Turns the car into a tuning fork. Need to come up with some kind of rubber insulated links.
