Things have been hectic, and I haven't had time to post anything. But that's OK, no-one seems to be looking anyway, except for a couple of diehards like yourself. I haven't seen people like Slim, or Ned Norton, Greg, Lindsay or some others for a very long time.

Things have gotten very real over the last month at work, with our State Roads body (RMS) serving legal notices on me personally for information regarding the company and it's operations. The response to the first 2 legal notices were 40 and 100 pages long respectively. They then served 2 more Notices on me, and wanted LOTS more info. The response to these 2 Notices exceeded 8000 pages, and took me a long time to compile. This response was only handed over today.I think we are winning them over to understand we really do try to make our driver's drive safely.

And, 2 weekends ago I decided I wanted to see a road that I was proposing to run some of our bigger gear over to complete some deliveries. Irene and I took off on a Saturday morning, in the XJR, drove to Goulburn and turned the snout of the big cat up some magnificent roads to Crookwell, then turned west to head from Crookwell through Rugby and onto Boorowa, and then Harden. Well, most of it was OK, but a 30 km section through Rugby was rubbish, and definitely not worth us tearing our gear apart on, so I advised the boss to forget going that way. Irene and I then re-joined the Hume, headed to Gundagai and one of our favourite B & B's, and spent the next day wandering around Gundagai, and then coming home post haste. Great weekend.

In other news - the kids have moved out and into their new home. But getting them to accept all the **** that was still here, but theirs, was a battle. We finally cleared the last of that yesterday, our ANZAC Day public holiday here.

Also, a couple of weeks ago I passed my 4 year anniversary (I forgot it on the day), so only have less than 1 year to go now before I am finally given the all clear, and I join the 4% club!

I am going to only be sporadic in my posts for the next year or so I think, as I am busy as all get out, and while I've reverted to being a watcher on here; I really don't have 2 seconds to myself to rub together a post!

So - take it easy - know that I'm watching, and I will catch up when I can.

I have spent several weeks in Australia on business in the late 80s and really loved being there. Your re-birth anniversary is cause for celebration and I will mark my calendar with the big one next year. I also think you are more like the 1% who carry on when 99% of us would just go to bed and never get up. Your little trip is testament to your get-up-and-go. I joined you on the trip but only in GR (Google Reality).

It's a little harder to read but I think it's more impressive as a satellite image (showing the terrain).

L, life does get busy. I am the one who is always home, but have been away for 12 out of the last 14 weekends, this one included. Unfortunately a few were for “departure parties” as one of my mates wanted it listed as. I am at Burril Lakes this weekend for my wife’s cousins weekend. I too find it hard to respond from my mobile phone but thought you were worth the time to spend typing on a 2” inch screen with 4” fingers. Thank the Lord for preemptive text.
Also, I must say thankyou for a lot of your posts as they have helped me get thru a couple of hards times of my own. Next time you are heading south out of Canberra and would like a break to stop and smell the alpaca poo, you have an open invite!

It's 1.:30am here, and I'm posting because at this time of the day, well I just can......

At work I now have a local bureaucracy battle going on that is preventing me from sleeping. Again! I won't go into great detail, except to say that a little Hitler in a regional area of the country has decided to wage war on us for no good reason, and getting this little p#$%^ck sorted out is costing me the last of my remaining hair....

I have been trying to keep up with everyone's threads, but haven't had time to post.

Since I'm up, and trying to make myself sleepy enough to sleep (isn't life hard when alcohol alone isn't sufficient), I'll post this.

Suffice to say that the weekends here haven't been completely wasted.

My last post, so nicely summarised by Bob in his map posting, was to look at bridges on a certain road we (at work) wanted to use with some of our bigger gear. So here is a smattering of local photos to prove what I went and did (look at bridges), but which of course involve the occasional XJR photo bombing :

At one of the bridges I stopped at I turned around to see this sign :

I was probably the 2nd person in 43 years that actually stopped to read it, but I guess someone got some comfort by having it erected in the memory of 30,000 poor woolly bastards.

So, it hasn't been all beer and skittles though....

I did get a chance to pick up some of Irene's Dad's tools (that her brothers didn't want). Here they are in the boot of the Falcon :

I got them on the day we went to pick up my trailer, and the furniture that had been removed from the spare room when Lauren and Co moved back in :

(Poor old little trailer needs a sand blasting and re-paint..... One day when I've got 6 Saturdays to use in a week!)

I decided to use the empty bottom drawer of my tool box (that extra deep one that I didn't know what to use it for ), to put them into for future restoration:

I also had one weekend spare, and decided to tackle something else on the "to-do" list.

Since I put up the shelves on the back wall of the garage some years ago now my OCD wasn't, and never has been, happy with the vastly different array of bottles under the bottom shelf :

So I decided to empty the shelf (contents now on the floor):

And, as they had been added in a rather scatter gun approach, with me up side down on the bench to screw in the lids, they were some what hap-hazzard.... :

And the 18 jars of the same sort of pasta sauce that I had been collecting for some months, had their lids arranged correctly and in line :

And my OCD nerves were soothed....:

All done in 1 hour in nice weather (though it still hasn't rained).

And aside from social duties, that's all the garage time I've had.....

It might be time now for me to see if I can get some shut eye.....

Lyndon, the jars remind me of the auctions I go to. Sometimes they have a item that no one bids on, then the auctioneer starts adding stuff to make it more interesting. Usually it ends up with old boxes of jars with all kinds of things inside, and a cheap price of $1.00 or two. I have spent hours going thru the jars and separate all the nails ,nuts and bolts. Most of the time they are new and one jar may have $10.00 worth of bolts etc. I wish you lived closer I have a bunch of empty jars you could have! BUG

Looks like a few treasures in the haul too. I do miss having an old rawhide mallet. Mind you it is not easy getting ‘rawhide’ anymore and I have every other type these days. I think I’d rather have a good plastic deadblow now.

Good luck dealing with the local bureaucrazy! I have no advice there… just lots of sympathy and check to make sure they keep exporting the Marlborough wines your way from time to time.

An update in 3 or 4 parts....

Thanks for the comments, and no - I don't have time to reply to you all - especially so far down the track.

Suffice to say - life is busy, very, very busy!

I'm hoping that I'm only 2 years from retirement, but await a financial adviser's say on that.

Things, lots of them, have been happening at Che Lyndon's place.

Lauren and the fiance moved into their own place in April.

The build of this thing finally (!!!) finished :

It wasn't a great result, but I guess I learnt a lot....

No photos of finished project, sorry.

Then, an E-Flay purchase came my way. Now, this, as it turns out, was created in the Eveleigh Train Work shop where my Grandfather built my Dad's 21st birthday present, which I now have (go back about 100 pages.... ). It has the same black painted finish - they must have been handing out plans?:

That is going to be my new drill bit holder (Ok - steady on - it might take a while....).

Then, on then same old dreaded auction site I got this air nailer for $15:

(Still need to get some 18g nails for it though....)

And, also got a new steering wheel for the old XR8:

So, as part of finishing up the sorry whole coffee table saga, I realised I needed (of course) a new tool, a flat sander (for want of better words that elude me at present):

A nice little Bosch sander joined the forces. Oh Joy! That actually helped a lot!

Mid all that that action the 1:18 model of my hero car from last year's V8 Championship finally arrived! I think this is one of the horniest things I've ever seen (personal preferences excluded):

Anyway, the boss will be home from Zumba soon, so I'd better look like I've been quietly disinterested for the last hour!
