I just combined factory GM mirrors to aftermarket mounts, it was a bit of a gamble, but fingers crossed it should be worth the extra time and money. Now I just have to order new aftermarket mirrors so the frames won’t be all nasty.

Yesterday I got the factory mirrors figured out, so now I know what the wires are for, next will be trying to make the stock switch run the mirrors. I also spent hours on internal door parts, so when I got done, it looked like I did nothing.

Goal for today is to clean up the shop a bit and find homes for some of my new tools and supplies. I struggle with this, but at this point I need to do something as there is not one square inch of flat surface left in the shop.

It is nice outside today and that is making my inside progress slow......

The good thing is that there is a bunch of stuff that can go in the dumpster and there will also be a decent pile for scrap.

When looking at everything, it seems like there is more stuff than I remembered, do you think it multiplied over the winter?

I loaded up my GF’s bench top and made up the leveling base parts, it is nice to have that gone. Now all I have to do is finish up mine, maybe next week.

Since the office is still torn apart, I will be stacking all the stuff from it and putting it on top of the Lista cabinets, just need to move a few things first.

Those lateral file cabinet's (I think that's what I'm looking at) make nice power tool drawers. I have a 2 drawer unit, one drawer full of Makita cordless stuff & 4 1/2" grinders with different working end's and another with Millwaulkie 1/2" drills, grinders and a porta band.
My shop is still a horrible mess from several winter projects. I too suffer from what ever syndrome that just will not keep me from stacking **** on every sq/in of available flat surface.

I have some lateral files out in the wood shop trailer, but these are for the office. I got things into place for the most part, about out of steam now.

Looks like I may not get much shop time today, the MIL is selling her house and we are needed to move things to the dumpster. I may be able to get away later in the afternoon, I always have Monday.

Your dream is my nightmare.

Trying to consolidate all of the office furniture and supplies so the it is all put away. After this morning, my back and knees are sore, had a lot of heavy things to get out of the basement of the MIL’s house, on top of that dealing with family squabbling, not fun.

Tomorrow I want to start on the blue maple top again, then I am thinking about doing maple tops in the office, not sure if I want those blue or not. I figure once I do the one for my home office, I will be able to decide what I will do at the office. May even go with the acacia wood instead of maple, it looks pretty good with just waterlox.

Got essentially everything out of the office. There are two pedestal cabinets and a Lista cabinet, but those are going to get covered and moved out of the way. I don’t want to move them too far as they are heavy and loaded with stuff.

Dealing with family can be difficult, and the money that is involved the more problems you will have. Trust me, We are still dealing with my F.I.L's estate and he passed 1 1/2 years ago and thought that he had every thing all figured out and had his wishes on paper.

I can't even remember where I got them, but I have two. I do like them, wish they where easy to adjust, but they are very nice. As you can probably tell, I like blue, a lot.

As for family, it is always about money, even when it "isn't", it is still about money.

We just got done with BIL's estate, and it took a year and cost quite a bit. Wife was the only heir. We're going to do a trust like my dad did. It only took me about 6 weeks to settle his affairs and have the check in hand.

I thought I was going to do one thing, but ended up doing something completely different, still forward progress, just not what I expected to do.

I found out that there is another auction, I should be able to get some stuff into this one, timing for the last one was terrible. Now I am gathering things for that.

I actually have not bought anything from the last three auctions. I just did not have any time to get things to the first spring auction, this is like a redemption. The only issue is that this one is an hour one way instead of being on my way home, it just means I need to plan accordingly. The biggest thing I need to remember is that a lot of my stuff is not worth anything to anyone else, I am working through that train of thought, pretty tough realization.

Making good use of my time today. I think by the end of this week things will really be taking shape!

The snap on guy is going to try and get me to buy something shiny and I may just bite.

I bough a couple new pallets, nice plastic ones, kind of excited about those, 4 for $25, I can’t seem to ever find them when I need them, so I buy them when they pop up.

Hope everyone has a decent day, it is beautiful outside today.

Almost had me sold on a new cabinet setup, but it is just too tall. I figure I am better off finishing my Lista stock room anyways.

I will have to order any lockers or cabinets before 2021 as they are discontinuing my toolbox color.

Still has been a nice afternoon, a bit breezy, but the sun feels great. I figure it must be my old age, but my knees have been killing me lately. It makes normal stuff a bit uncomfortable and other things downright painful.

Raining pretty good here, should be inside most of the day, I have a buddy coming over to help with my rotary phase converter. It would be nice to see the equipment I own working instead of helping hold the floor down.

No good pictures, we got everything figured out, it was a pretty simple issue, for him anyways. Then we made the Bridgeport spin, then we wire up my lathe and got it to turn. I knew they worked, but the lathe had an issue that it would not work in reverse and it appeared to be the switch. We spent a bunch of time trying to figure out why it wasn't working, we eventually got it figured out, but the person that had installed it had done some strange wiring, now that it is fixed, we have forward and reverse. Now all I have to do is move things around a bit so I have access to them. I also need to order some tool holders for the lathe, it has the Aloris base, but no holders.

I need a friend like that. I have a "cold saw" that need's 3phase 440? That VFD & step up transformer talk bounce's right off my head when spoken to me!

What size is the motor on the cold saw? Most VFDs can take a 230V/240V single phase input and output 480V 3-phase up to 3HP. I have a sensorless vector VFD that will do that up to a 7-1/2HP motor.

I eventually need to get a VFD for the iron worker. I will have to size it for my compressor, then if he ironworker is no good, I can use the VFD for the compressor.

Got some more done on the black burb, tomorrow I hope to get the mirrors swapped on the maroon burb. I really want to mess with the lathe, my Dad dropped off a couple tool holders and some cutters, so all I need to be is brave.

Only a 1 HP, it's geared very low. The blade turns at only 60 rpm iirc. I'd love to have it working, right now it's just taking up real estate in my shop.

That is a nice looking saw, if you ever need the space back...................

I have to bring a refrigerator to the recycling center today, then I am off to borrow my Brother's dump trailer so I can load a bunch of wood from the pile out back of the shop. I was going to burn it all, but I just don't have the time. I still have to deal with a pile of stumps and some brush, but that may have to wait for another day.

Yesterday I "fixed" the power lock on the passenger side door of the black burb, tested it and it worked. Get home, no lock, I don't know what happened, but will need to investigate further. I hate doing things twice.

Spent a good chunk of this afternoon cleaning up some junk wood, there was a lot more than I thought, having it gone is a good feeling. I can see that I can’t let the pile get that big again.

Next is to load up some scrap steel, at least I don’t have to pay to get rid of that.

Nice progress to get those machines wired up and spinning. I know the feeling when you have a nice piece of equipment and it's not running. Hard to see it just take up space. But now you can start to use them as needed.
I had to accomplish a lot of yard clean up the last two weeks as well. At least we finally got some weather warn enough to get out there and be a little productive.

Doing well Wanna, I think of you every time I move the TXT. One of these days I will be thinking of you when I am running it. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods too.

RM, the warm weather usually makes me ambitious, then it turns into hot weather and slows me down again. I can't wait to use the two machines, I need a bit of tooling and some time so I can practice with them. I can see that my next big purchase should be a pair of digital readouts. I have too many vehicles in the stable and I have to start thinning the herd a bit. Luckily, there are three slated for the scrap yard and one that is supposed to be fixed and sold. I hope to accomplish that in May.

I pulled my Volvo cross country into the shop last night, it will be the first one to go, but I have to grab some parts off it first. Then the suburban carcass from last fall, then the next suburban carcass, well once I strip it, then it can go too. The jeep needs a deep cleaning, a power steering pump, and it looks like one window regulator or something as the window doesn't stay shut.

I totally understand the "too many vehicles" statement and the related issues. I finally had to give up on one future project (I'll never get the time) and sell my old Jeep, and also sold the Hooptie Van as I replaced it with a Ford Expedition. So nice to have some yard and garage space back, happier neighbors and cash.

Funny thing, I discovered it's easier to store cash in the drawer than vehicles in the yard.
