It sounds good, but not sure i want to trust that Sears will be around for the 12 monthly payments of points.... (I thought payment plans were for customers, not for businesses to pay me back)

Unfortunately, they've changed these type of offers so that you no longer receive what you earned all at once.

So each month you will receive a portion of the 100% cashback in points, and probably have a limited time to spend that portion. The points can only redeemed on items sold by Sears or Kmart.

Two of the three Sears in my area are scheduled to close this summer. Even if my third Sears was around during the duration of this 12 month offer, I still don’t see myself finding anything I’d care to purchase from them with my 8.3% cashbach each month.

I was all set to pick up the push mower for $300 back in points until I saw they spread them out over 12months.
I just moved to a new house and now have just over an acre to mow and my old push mower is feeling its age. I thought, hey! Get this and use the points back towards a zero turn. No dice.

Seems very low risk - the chances of both Sears and Kmart going out of business in the next 12 months is essentially zero. Even if they filed for bankruptcy they would have to cover this somehow, usually they buy out the remainder in my experience.
