Just driving through the neighborhood this morning and saw this sitting on the curb in front of a house. Knocked on the front door and asked if they were getting rid of it. "It's all yours" they said! Took two of us to get it in the truck. Must weigh 250 lbs! Talked to the guy that was dumping it. He was in his 50s and said it was his grandfathers. Grandpa bought it sometime around WWII. One of the reasons it's so heavy is the stand base. Some kind of hub from a train! Guy said it's been sitting outside in his backyard for 10 years. It's got a home appliance power cord on it and it's missing one guard. I luv the vintage pushbutton on/off switch!
Oh yeah.........it works too! Spins right up! Must have some good bearings 'cause I timed it from power off to when the wheels stop spinning. 1 minute 35 seconds, as opposed to my cheap Chinese 1/2 hp grinder.....23 seconds! Any identifying markings are long since worn off. Anyone have any idea of brand, hp rating, etc??
