From the car boot sale, the No1 was £2 and the No0 was £3.

Dutch Wow that is a great deal, nice score
BTW, since you are NOT from Australia, you are NOT allowed to post upside down photos. Also I am not sure what is up with the photo when I clicked on it to enlarge and have a better look, I just got a black screen. But even upside down and without being able to see a larger photo, they seem to be in very good shape.
Hi All
Does anyone have a Yost 204? If so how much does it weigh?
I was checking the stats on this model in the vise spread sheet and it seems the weight is stated as ONLY 23 lb!
To start with the weight for the 3" 203 is stated at 28 lb which is 5 lb more than the stated weight for the 4" 204 . Also for an old American vise even the 28 lb for 3" vise seems to be low and 23 lb for 4" absolutely make no sense. A typical 4" American machinist vise usually weighs more than 50 lb. And I think Yost 204 might weigh around 58 lb.
Any clarification is appreciated.
Figure it out 007 and let me know so I can update the spreadsheet. Guys, please let me know if there is a error in the spec:s so we can be accurate. I am doing the best as I can with the time I have.
I picked up this Parker 474 a couple weeks ago (photo from sale). Gonna get a new handle and full resto.
Notlob That is indeed a very nice find! If you don’t mind me asking, how much did you payfor it?
Even though I work on vises everyday I do not have a bench vise mounted

Per Yost's website the 204 weighs 57lbs.
Well I took me my customary ride on this little ****** but I have jumped off and the train is leaving.---I know it's to no avail, but I just have to say that I rode them a little ways.---It's the rush!!!

I'm sure $175. isn't even close to the winning bid on that.
I don't know VA, you seem to be getting awful gun shy.I'm sure $175. isn't even close to the winning bid on that.

Ok Fellas......I'm wondering who can school me on some Prentiss history. I've attached a pic of 3 different Prentiss swivel jaw vises. All 3 are for the most part the same looking vise but what primarily sets them apart is the way that Prentiss branded them. Anyone have some good info on date ranges of each style? Thanks.

Toptul make what looks like a well finished vise. 3" up to a massive 10" made of cast steel.
Given the relatively high price I'm guessing they are made in Taiwan not China ?
ISB, the green one looks to be a Colton Patent vise.
George A. Colton patent holder, No. 320,224. Patented June 16, 1885. H&B, Inmarks, Phoenix and unmarked examples exist. "Mfg by Moore & Barnes Manufacturing Co. of Phoenix, N. Y.": Accoring to patent info? http://www.datamp.org/patents/displayPatent.php?id=7259
Sorry bout that. Here are the first 2 pics full size this time and then the 3rd one I'm referring to would be Prentiss vises with no branding on the sides in the casting, only Prentiss N.Y. No. ** on the top of the static behind the swivel jaw (better pic this time).Chris, can you get pics bigger than a postage stamp? Also one is from the top...
