Hmm, didn't some "well known" USA woman's brand clothing turn out to be made in China last year?

Exactly like Vic Edelbrock's book "Made In USA"...

...which was printed by Communists in China.

For 1 hat probably not much, for a few thousand probably a lot cheaper.

A hat 100% made in the U.S. would cost around 4 times as much as the Chinese version. That can vary a bit by quantity. Being that the pictured hat is a cheap blank I could make a somewhat educated guess that if they made a few thousand they'd be between $3-5. You'd have trouble doing a made in U.S. version for less then $15.

Are there hats made in America and should they have used them? Yes and yes.

However they are a tool company not a clothing company. Disappointing but give em a break.

The US companies were fighting prison work programs a couple years ago, by prisons undercutting prices they were pushing the other hat companies towards out of business.

I didn't know that last part; but I definitely agree with the above.

The first thing I thought when I saw "fiercely made" was maybe they have a meth problem amongst the employees.

Sometimes the level of pettiness is mind boggling.

Here's a company that probably puts itself at a global competitive price disadvantage by making products in the US, but regardless they are being **** on because they sell a Hat that is imported.

I can't wait for when the bashing of the "re-shored" American made craftsman tools commences.

If they are going to promote made in the USA products and their hats (advertising made in USA) are made in china, then that is a conflict of interest and general poor marketing and management. Just looks bad on a company.

Now I'm thinking to myself. Where do I find a hat that is literally made in the US? Not printed, embroidered, or designed here, but actually manufactured in the USA.

I bet it's a damn hard thing to find. I dont know the real numbers, but the US probably manufactures 1% or less of the clothing that is sold in this country.

Not trying to dispute what you're saying, but how hard is it to make a hat?? It's not like the space shuttle, or something advanced in terms of technology. I would think a hat ( or anything else) low tech would cost about twice as much for made in US.

This was a sort of oops from board of directors to marketing to ordering dept...

A campaign to be fiercely anything has to be that all the way. If American it has to be as many things as you can before the start. Or selectively marked on only US made products.

It is a mild sort of marketing fail.

Okay, the reason I asked about the hat cost comparison was that it's easy to say they should make the hats here, but how can one say that without actually knowing the cost?

I looked online and found these two:

USA Made caps...$12.80 if buying 1,200+

Made overseas...$2-$4.

I'm not sure if that is an apples to apples comparison, but the price difference is significant.

We buy some textile items for our business. A recent purchase me made we went with the Chinese made item as it was 1/3 the cost of domestic. I would prefer USA made, but when the difference was several thousand dollars, I went with the less expensive.

How hard is it to make a wrench? It's not like the space shuttle, or something advanced in terms of technology.
