Mittler Bros. Jamey Jordan 36" Deluxe Kit, the machine is 6' long OAL. Much larger than anticipated when I ordered it. Only rolled a couple practice panels just to get my feet wet, Learned a few things rather rapidly...

A- Go Slow... no, SLOWER, NO, REALLY REALLY REALLY SLOW... NO, WAY SLOWER than that!
B- the Step dies can cut metal... even the Nylon ones...
C- it is not as easy as some make it look.
D- it is a pretty slick process nonetheless, and I was making pretty good progress on the second practice panel,
E- it sure seems that larger panels should be easier than the 10x10s that I am practicing on.

Like anything though this is going to require practice practice practice...

There supposed to be one of the better brands. NIce selection of bead rolls?

I think the coolest thing you can make is stuff like end caps for puke tanks. Beats sharp corners. I always suspected reducing the diameter of the ends and the middle section would make the seam thicker and welding together easier.

Or, do the parts just get taller?

I got the Art Roll kit with the machine as well as a nylon soft step set, Half inch round Bead, 1/4" Step, and Skateboard Wheels. Planning to add a Hem set and some other items...
You can prestretch the metal for a bead so it doesn't pucker as bad...

Practice is going to be spendy though! My metal supplier wants almost $400 for 3003h14 Unless I buy a minimum of 5 sheets...

Kkroger, that is a nice piece of equipment. I have been looking into getting one. I have looked at several but really like the Mittler unit. Just waiting on bonus time now.

Looking at all that were offered I felt the Mittler was best bang for the buck, and I opted for the 36" throat... A buddy of mine had a Lazze and went to a Baileigh Industrial (the big mustard colored one) as it is I was at $3200 for what I got, and need two or three more dies to make me happy... The fact that it is a US made piece of equipment and made right here in Missouri made me happy too.

that V8 Panel I use a Half inch round bead on the bottom and the Tipping die on top, to make a nice round profile on the V8, then I used the 1/4" step around the frame, offset about an 1/8 then the diamonds in the background I used the Tipping die on top and the universal Groove art roll on the bottom. First I've done other than Tuck and roll on aluminum, Circles are hard... I need to just draw a bunch of circles on some material and roll those for like a week straight... I did the circles first then the V with a lot more pressure to pump it up higher... then the frame and then the lines... with the rusted material it came out interesting...

I don't have the Jamey Jordan addition, I just have their standard 24" billet framed power drive bead roller and I love it.

I looked around quite a bit when I purchased mine about 6 years ago and found it to offer great quality for the price and I have not been disappointed.

I don't have the stand for mine as space is at a premium so I built a short stubby base and merely clamp it to my fabrication table when needed and hang it on the wall when not being used.

I think you will be happy with it long term.

Z,
Do you think it is worth the difference to get the 36" VS. the 24"?
I used the 24" Mittler machine years ago helping a friend who had an ARCA car and really liked it.

If you routinely run larger panels I can see where the 36" *********** would be beneficial, providing you also have the real estate space for storage. Storage and budget were my two constraints. If memory serves it was a healthy price jump from the 24" to the 36" but that was also 6+ years ago, I'm not sure about now.

I used mine for interior panels on race cars but mostly on sandrail body panels and building fuel cells and oil tanks and for that it has worked perfectly. Even on a couple of larger roof panels on sandrails, I kept the beads or designs to the outer 16-18 inches and it turned out great even on a 4 plus foot panel.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, I just haven't had any first hand experience with anything over the 24" throat roller.

24 vs 36... if you are running a circle on a sheet that is 36x36 and you want that circle in the upper right corner... will it pass through the 24" Throat?

if you need to roll a pattern in a 48" Door panel that might require you to turn the panel longways 1' from each end... can you do it? Maybe...

I didn't want to be hamstrung so I got the big boy...
with more bells and whistles.. I do metal work for a living I wanted more capability, every year I upgrade something or I get another BIG ticket tool... gotta juggle the taxes to do it but it works out usually...

Z, Kkroger,
Thanks for the input. At the end of the day I guess I would rather pay the difference for the upgrade or cuss myself later for not having enough space. I will be using it for some race car work, hot rods and that kind of stuff.
KKroger I understand the issue of upgrading stuff to help out on the taxes. Being self employed if you make money they tax you to death.

The Jamey Jordan DELUXE kit 24" with both adjustable shafts is
$2405 Plus Shipping...
the 36" JJ Deluxe Kit with both adjustable shafts is
$2545.......

All other items in the kit are the same , rolls, table rollaway stand... Industrial motor, all the same the frame and shafts are the only difference in cost and it appears to be negligible...

That is much different than six years prior. I didn't buy it in kit form and I paid just under $1k for the 24" billet framed roller. If memory serves the jump up to the 36" roller (which also was a steel frame, not aluminum) was around $1600 so much more difference than currently.

If it were only $140 back then I probably would have sprung for the 36" as well even though I have never needed it.

Interestingly enough the price of the base Jamey Jordan 36" with one upper shaft is $1975...
the 24" Jamey Jorday with one adjustable shaft and NOT the industrial motor so you would be limited to 18Ga Steel... and I think 22 Ga Stainless...
$1025 so a $950 difference...

the Industrial 24" is
$1725 so $200 difference there (I would opt for the industrial motor no matter what it is just how I am wired)

No Rolls
No Stand
No Table

the Art Roll Set is $240
The Soft Step is $100
Work Table is $240
Rollaway stand is $185

The Industrial Motor upgrade kit is $1045...

I have looked at the prices and when I compared apples to apples, that is the 24" vs 36" Jamey Jordan series package with adjustable shafts, etc. the price difference was only a couple hundred dollars. I looked at the 36" unit at Charlotte Auto Fair in April. Gulley had it at the same price and in stock on the trailer. I plan on seeing about picking one up at either Moultrie swap meet or Daytona in November.
Right now I am in the process of having a new shop built.

2- I found out how small of a radius I can turn...

That’s robbery!!!

I order 50 sheet minimums direct for roughly 30% that price (you didn’t mention thickness).

Have you tried to find someone in your area that would be kind enough to let you piggy back a direct order?

It’s common for us to reach out to suppliers or competitors that buy direct through the same manufacture to fill out orders be it a LTL skid or a full truck.
