Chadster1 had said in another thread that there was going to be an excellent deal on hex/torx sockets on Jan 1st. I don't have a local snapon guy so i was wondering what the great deal is?

You have the option to get $8 ea for every competitors socket you turn in or $100 per set you turn in (up to $300 total). Which would make it $413 for the set.

What he said.

So you end up with a 36 piece Snap-on hex/torx set for $413.80 which works out to $11.49 per piece.

Sorry but I don't understand what you mean ?

Probably means that particular dealer doesn't want to bother taking in a bunch of **** sockets because he knows that is what he is going to get. So cut the pretense and give the full price payer a $300 tool credit instead. The dealer comes out better here because he sells more full priced tools.

What sizes does it include? When I type in 236efset into the Snap-on site, it just comes up with the model name and $713. No picture or list of sizes.

Its a great deal if you wrench professionally. I buy alot of tools from estate and retirement sales and I get alot of very usable Snap On and Bluepoint tools from the 40's, 50's and 60's. And these come from pro mechanics who made their living with these tools for decades. If you are just a hobbiest, then they are pricey and you decide if its worth the money. As I look back, and I only turn wrenches about 2 hours a day max, I wish I had bought better tools. I'm 52 and am really starting to value high quality tools. They make the jobs go quicker and easier. SO is not your only choice, but it certainly is not a bad one.

Says $412.51 when I look it up. Does that mean it's $112.51? Still very expensive for a set, but almost worth it then.

Is it available seperately ?
If so, part # and price ?

I just received a SO flyer with the 236EFSET in it. They have it listed for $839.95 CDN. for 36 sockets thats 23 dollars a socket. Even as a professional wrencher I find that hard to swallow. I have a set put together from CT, Husky and Princess Auto and they do me well and cost no where near 839.95 In some cases that price would be a persons pay check :S

I didn't think you Canadian's worked that cheap for a 20 hour week......

we get payed every 2nd week on a 44-48hr work week but here but with taxes deductions rent and the bills and putting money into RRSP's doesn't leave that much to fool around with.

It is back in this months ad I just picked up today and says "pick of the week coming soon", but this time it is up to $100 for trade in. Doesn't hint at being able to trade in multiple sets (not that I have them to begin with). I'd love to have that kit but way out of my price range.
