What is the sale price on the series 2? I see $170 on hfqbd, that price and the blue color is making my wallet nervous. But I already have a 2 drawer husky cart I got for $40 that I beat the hell out of. At least I can beat that one without feeling bad, if I got one of these blue ones I'd be upset if I just scratched the thing.

Best sale price this year was 149.99.

Everyday low price of $199.99 at my HF. Pick your color.
no fun in that, saving money is half the fun at HF

It was their Parking Lot sale earlier this year. Carts flew off in most of my stores at that price in the first day
I'll keep my eyes open, $200 is a bit much when I already got other stuff, $170 is tempting, $150 is must buy. I wish they sold the 44" or 26" stack in blue, I like red but blue is refreshing.

You are unlikely to see 149 again... according to a HF manager... it was priced like that to move stock and build a desire for the new colors. Both have been done. Locally they only had 2 blue carts for the 149... for the entire length of the parking lot sale time, which ran about a month or so.

You are probably going to have to fork over the extra $20 bill if you want a blue one... and they have one...

You can also find coupons here and there... might save you half of that $20

Sharing my new 4 drawer cart modded to mount my Grizzly G8688 mini lathe. Got the cart with a $99 coupon after a little trouble. SKU on the coupon vs the store stock did not match but being a frequent flier at my local HF paid off as my fav head cashier said, "Well, they do now." :D

Major mod was to disable the lid and mount a piece of 3/4" melamine that I edgebanded on the top to hold the lathe. I used carriage bolts to secure the top to the cabinet. I removed the drawer locks. It has worked out very nicely for the lathe and the associated tooling etc...

Hey man. Good to see ya. I actually sold the racing operation. The dragster is sitting in storage in South Carolina waiting on a museum building to be built where it'll be on display. Pretty cool deal.

Life is good but crazy. I've had a few threads on stuff that I built.

Thanks! Really hard to beat any of these carts or cabinets from HF. I actually have 2 of the Yukon benches. The first one I modded to house a little pancake air compressor so I can atleast use a blow gun in the reloading room. I also added the HF multi plug in strip on the back. The 2nd one is still stock. I love them. Coupons out there for $199 now. Unbeatable buy in my book.

Found this, it’s the first time I’ve seen a coupon at $169 for the new carts. Coupon was in Four Wheeler magazine.

I know HF will do coupons on mobile phone, not sure if that includes photos of the paper coupons, but if anyone wants to try it here ya go.

5-drawer “Series 2” question

Hope this hasn’t been asked a million times...

Other than the new colors, are there any differences with the new 5-drawer carts compared to the older ones?

Where did you get the rifle cutout in the country/flag tin?

I bought it a couple of years ago from a guy on Facebook that makes them. Can't locate his info now. :dunno:

Edit: Found it. Let me know if anyone wants his info. I'll be glad to PM. He gets $60 for them.

Are the 4 and 5 drawer models of comparable quality?

I ask as I went to hf yesterday with the intent of picking up a 4 drawer to serve as my mobile workstation. However, the model on display seemed really cheap compared to the 5 drawer models right beside it. I couldn't tell if that was was a function of poor assembly and/or abuse on the floor, or whether the 4 drawer is just not as nice.

Although I don't have the 4 drawer model I think what you experienced was poor assembly and abuse from store traffic. I have read very good things about the 4 drawer.

I've had mind about a month now. It never leaves its spot in the shop although I do rummage through it for tools a lot. One thing I noticed, was I tend to lean against the front when I'm reaching for items in the top area. The thin sheet metal around the lock has started to bow inward. I solved that issue by bolting a piece of 1.5" angle iron inside above the lock.

I realize it was a problem that was my own doing. Still though, that seems to be a weak area.

My 4-drawer has held up really well over about 2yrs now. Solid w/smooth drawer slides. Absolutely no problems.

I’ve had my 4 drawer cart very over loaded with tools for the last 2 plus years. Not a single issue however I just work on my own stuff.

I have both. Quality seems equal to me.

I added a ****** Craftsman 4 drawer box to mine. Did have the Craftsman in my Jeep, but I dropped it getting it out. The bottom of it buckled. Took a little effort to make the drawers slide smooth. Its supported on the HF cart with 1" angle iron and self tapping metal screws as placeholders. The steel bar keeps the drawers shut because I eliminated the lid and locking bar in order to make it fit.

Is it true the blue 5 drawer HF cart has build quality issues? I saw this on a youtube video I can't find now.

I think I watched the same video. I gathered that the guy may have been comparing gen 1 against gen 2, unknowingly. Been a while, so I may be mis-remembering. Regardless, when I bought mine, the blue display model did feel flimsy in comparison.

Damnit that *****. I am going to get mine today... I guess I'll get black or red

Maybe I missed it, has anyone here used dual sided magnets on the underside of the flip top so you can store tools inside, and if you have a bunch of stuff laying on top(not too much really) when you lift the lid it won't fall? I realize this is a lot of stress for the studs but they are in a better position now and I can use a locker on them

Thanks!

You saw this right (link below), sorry if I'm off base on what you mean, I'm just a thread watcher now as I don't have the tool cart yet. Here he says some stuff will fall off if you pound on the lid with it closed. You might have to mount these panels or some other type magnets on both sides to achieve what you desire. I don't know if it will hold stuff on the outside top as well. maybe PM Stick Figure?

Yeah that's pretty much what I'm looking for! Thanks!!

Got the red one... agonized for a real long time looking at the blue but could not pull the trigger after various sources reported issues and HF doesn't really say anything

Off to assemble

I think you did good. Red isn't my favorite color, but I think it's the best color for a garage. The red accented/themed garages on here always catch my eye. I ordered those panels for my HF 5 drawer cart that I have yet to purchase because I'm afraid that Craftsman may quit making them and I had Sears points to use. I'm now liking your idea and thinking about getting a couple for the top side of the lid. I might have to put some sort of counter weight on it, but then maybe I just need to buy one first. :)

Is $169. and change the best price I'm going to see on the updated 5 drawer model? ...or is there a twice a year deal for $159 I should be waiting for?

I was looking at the price history of this thing just for this year and they really, really love to adjust it by 10 dollars or so. It is not part of the lot sale this year, so I would just use the 169 coupon and be done with it! Go get it!

OR do the 8 drawer mod with 2x 4 drawer carts if you have the skills. Didn't see that picture till last night... I probably couldn't do it anyway so lol.

I still sorta wish I had the blue, but that will be my next cart after I outgrow this one. It will probably go This cart -> ADT/OEMTOOLS 7 Drawer+ cart -> Big Boy rolling box.

As for the color I have a real soft spot for red too. It was originally the color I wanted until I saw the blue in person, and thought about how my red tools would looked magnetized to a black cart. My stepdad who tried his best to raise me as his own from the age of two on after my dad was killed was SO into this stuff and restoring cars, so there's a sentimental part too. I really wish I wasn't such a stupid kid obsessed with video games and had appreciated what he had and was doing!

Bottom line go get the cart!!
