Sort-A-Tool Wrench tray organizer

I've had a few of these for quite awhile, and really to like them a lot.

Problem is, they only go up to 19mm.

Do you know of any this same style and quality that go up to larger sizes?

Not full, but I found this online.

It's nice because you can easily see the size label on them, they drop in and come out really nicely, and they stay put.

Looks like in the picture you could have 2 of each size wrench in the tray (I have two sets of SAE non-ratcheting wrenches & it would be nice to store them on edge like that). Then I could get a second tray for my metric non-ratcheting wrenches also.

I have spotted that tray at my local sears, just never bought one....not sure if it would work better or save more space compared to the racks I currently have?

I bought one of the sort-a-tool organizers from Sears and returned it two days later. I just didn't like having my SAE and Metric wrenches all together. Maybe if I had two of them like blown94conv with separate SAE and Metric stickers I would have liked it better. I wound up buying these:http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200371127_200371127, but from Harbor Freight for $8 each ($10-20% coupon). For the price they are great though each will take up a whole drawer. I thought at first it wasted a lot of space with the allen key slots, but I've found them to be useful. Not sure what I'm going to do with the wrench slots on the left side though...can always trim them down and just make it flat there. For $8 I don't mind tailoring them to my needs. They are made in the USA as well. Those Wrench Boss organizers do look very nice if I had multiples of the same wrench.

I have three of these and they work great. Two are set up exactly like blown49's in my wrench drawer. I think this is better than the wrench boss since the wrenches are stood on edge and take up less floor space in the drawer.

1-I prefer to lay the wrench on it's narrow side for space saving reasons.
2-I'd prefer not to stack my wrenches, so I didn't have to pick one up to grab the one beneath it.
3-It doesn't appear to hold the wrench in very snugly. With the sort-a-tool, there are little nubs that hold the wrenches in place for when you're opening and closing the droors.

Due to the tool addiction I aquired since I discovered this place, I have too many wrenches, there a four of each standing vertically in the slots from 5/16 thru 3/4. Above that I have a few triples but mostly doubles. Some of these are the long handle wrenches, not sure the orther tray could accomodate them. Good point on the potential for sliding, I haven't had the problem, but have some extra drawer liner I could cut if it becomes an issue.

I can't speak for Blown94conv, but when I got mine I emailed the company and they sent files to print.

Along with the capacity of this tray, the other problem I've got is portablity. Wrenches can't be secured. Tip it just a little and you've got tools all over the garage floor.

Mine stays in the box, I have a set on the black v-style holders that go out to the car if needed.

The labels were in the pack when I bought them. It had labels for both, all metric, and all SAE. I may still have the extra set.

The Sort-A-Tool looks like a pretty efficient organizer!

I have a Snap-On KRA4813. Will this thing fit in the short drawers, or will it be too high once the wrenches are in it? The website says it will work in any "standard" 2 inch drawer, but mine only measure 1.5" tall plus the space to the next drawer above it.

Has anyone used this with one of the short Snap-On drawers?

I took mine back a couple days after buying it. C-man wrenches fit just fine but SO wrenches I had wouldn't fit. Went back to wrench racks.

I realize this is a old thread, but I hope some of you will respond.

I'm also looking for a better way of organizing my wrench's, as I'm finally fixing up my garage as my "Man Cave". Everything,....will be in it's place !

I have the normal flat wrench's, ratcheting/flex heads, large size and many extra wrench's, in SAE and Metric. My old school Craftsman (and more heavy duty than todays tool box's ) but, the drawers are only 21" wide x 16" deep.

My newer Craftsman work bench with roll away & drawers are 22.5" x 16.5", so most wrench organizers will fit.

I'm using the old tool box as my main tool storage and have most the wrench's, sockets, screw drivers, pliers etc, in it, but if needed, I can change them over to the new tool box's that again, will accommodate the organizers without modifying them. Right now, they store my electrical, auto body tools, all electrical drills, plumbing and misalliances tools & parts.

I do like the "Sort A Tool" organizer, but I'm also looking at others mentioned here and at "Harbor Freight".

The photo on the floor is the larger wrench's and extras that I need to organize in one of the drawers ? (I don't want to just throw them in somewhere) The fourth photo is the SAE and the fifth is Metric and want to keep them seperated. The sixth is one of the work bench tool box's.

Please look at the photo's below and give me your advise & opinion's.

In the top box of my HF 13 drawer (less than full depth of a SO chest) I have upwards of 80 wrenches in each drawer and can pick up any one of them without moving another. That's 4 sets of wrenches (combination x2, ratcheting box end combos, and stubbies) in each drawer. I can't think of a more efficient storage solution.

If you hook the front of a tray with a pick to lift it and work your fingers around and under the two sides, you can ilft a tray out and carry it, but you'd need to be careful or you could dump a bunch of wrenches. I do this occasionally and put a whole tray in my cart.

I use the Sort-A-Wrench trays myself in one of my toolboxes, but only for my metric wrenches. I also remove the whole tray from my box and put it in my cart when working. The larger size wrenches aren't really a problem for me, since I have the larger wrench sizes in a separate toolbox drawer (how often do you use them is the point).

It would be great if someone made a similar wrench tray that was metal and magnetic. Not just to hold the wrenches in place, but also to attach the whole tray to a car fender for easy access. Then you'd be less likely to be dropping wrenches into the engine bay.

Holy thread revival. OK, I'll bite.

With a 20% coupon from Harbor Freight, I went ahead and bought one of their wrench trays. I had to trim it down to fit on my drawer (trimmed off the sides using my miter saw), and it works just fine. I even thought about cutting it in half if I needed to. I gotta say, it does the job just fine. And for 8$? Boom goes the dynamite.
