I'm not sure I'm doing this right. I don't have a lot of experience with forums. I asked somewhere but I'm not sure where so I'll try again. I have this collection going and I'm trying to complete this board but I'm having a hard time finding deep well Husky sockets with a knurled band. I have a couple so I know they're out there but I'm not seeing any more. Any help anyone?

Fool,

That's a nice board!

You've come to the right place.

I do have a few suggestions:

- Post some photos of the deep well sockets you DO have, that way we'll know what they look like and how they are marked. (I collect Husky, but 1940's era tools. When I run into chromed tools at flea markets, I usually ignore them, but if I knew what to look for, I might could find what you need.)

- Post a list of the deep well socket sizes and model numbers you need. (Hard to see on the board.)

- You could also post a Wanted ad in the Classified section. You'll find it below the Tool section. Similar to your thread here, post the board, close-ups of the deep well sockets, and a list of the sockets you need.

Very cool! I don't think I've ever seen a Husky tool board.
Agree, let us know what you're looking for/missing. I'm happy to help search as well.

Nice tool board. I don't see Husky sockets often enough to try to put a set together. I only have one Husky tool

Very cool toolboard and collection of Vintage Husky. Generally I am not a collector of sets of tools like this but I stopped by last day of an estate sale today and snagged this up for $3. Got it home and was doing a little keyboard research and it appears it could be the tool box from the kit Husky and Williams collaborated on (pic on AA webpage shows pic from 1928 Mcmaster-Carr catalog).

Whoa! Nice find! Can we get a closer look at those speeders? They look like 20s Cornwell handles. Any markings on the sockets?

I'd love to have that set if you're interested in selling or trading.

Twertsy: Here are a few more photos of what was in the kit. I will send you a pm in the near future and maybe we can work out a trade:thumbup:

I know I'm bumping an old thread, but I have a relevant question with these narrow knurled-banded Husky sockets. I've seen them having either the logo with the underlined Husky or without the underline, sockets being identical in every other way. Anybody know when this transition too place?

Wonder if the OP ever completed his mission?

Thanks for resurrecting this. A recent interest in New Britain knurled socket sets led me to also collecting New Britain made Husky and Craftsman BE and Circle H knurled sets. After looking at my Husky 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 partial sets, I found that mine were about 50/50 underline Husky vs not. On my round head ratchets, only the 3/8 is underlined and I also have one 3/8 breaker underlined and one not. I've never noticed the difference until now.

From all I've seen, there appears to be a point in time where NB changed the logo on the sockets from Husky with an underline to one without. 1970s?

There isn't a lot of detail on AA about the underline, but just from browsing pictures of what they do show on a few Husky ratchets, it looks like the underline may have disappeared in the early '60's.

I think underline length may have varied as well
I need to check mine again, but the trademark shown on the Tool Archives TM page shows the underline joining the H and Y. The TM referenced was 1924, so NB may have tweaked the trademark a bit (?) after their acquisition of Husky in the '30's.

More than a bit. The logo for Husky as a New Britain brand in the late 30's and 40's looked nothing like the old Husky (independent company) logo. The New Britain log was sharper and more stylized with all super straight lines. As for the differences between the later (late 50's? 60's?) New Britain Husky logo and the New Britain 30's through 40's logo, it's more than just removing the underline. The letters in HUSKY are all very plain and straight up and down. Even if you remove the underline from the earlier logo, you can see that the letters are more stylized.

I have some 20s husky examples. The underline curves as it transitions from the h to the underline, then again as it connects to the y

Here is an underline Husky ratchet.
-Don
Did you get the insert with it also Don? I'm enjoying collecting these knurled NB sockets and find that the Husky & Craftsman BE branded ones have been somewhat easier to find here locally than the NB for some reason. Also other than the few Plomb sockets I'm still searching for, the knurled sockets are so much easier to spot in a bucket or box!

Here's a Williams midget set part of the husky Collaboration? Or maybe right after? I'm new to this forum and sort of new to collecting in general I started with snap on but I recently started branching out have been having a really hard time finding any Early husky stuff besides the few things I do have. Hopefully this isn't against the rules but I would be willing to buy or trade snap on stuff for some nice Vintage husky tools or sets I will have to take some pictures later for now IMG_20221202_185925590.jpg I just have what I have already taken

Long time lurker even longer time tool hunting and saving first time commenting. I don’t know if this will help but I came across a miscellaneous mismatched set in a metal case that’s definitely not original but I’m not complaining. I was told they were from the 30’s and 40’s some have an underline H connecting to the Y others have a short underlined H and others have no underline but all have the knurled stripe on the bottom. I like the set it’s neat because of the history but I’d rather someone that is collecting them to have them, I’m more of the plomb, proto, 1930’s craftsman, and early blue point fan. This addiction totally happened by accident but again I’m not complaining. Let me know if you see anything you need and we can talk shop, make arrangements or whatever you’d like.

Alright vintage Husky fans, I've got a wild one here... CTD 620S Spark Plug Socket. Looks like a setup piece or QC reject. It is fully double-struck, with the interior filled with slag. I've never seen anything like this, have any of you?
