Hey all, with the new part time job comes new machines. I use to run John Deere tractor, LA110 and rotary JS21, RWD. I now run with Husqvarna YTH20K42 Tractor, (the 20hp koher is a beast) and an LC 221RH Rotary. I chose the Honda engine in lieu of the Briggs & Stratton. Hope it won't disappoint.
Both machines are very user friendly and I enjoy working with them. The deck design on both really draw the grass and do a great job however, I don't think anyone thought where to go with it after words. The tractor is one story, and for another post, but the RWD Rotary is why I'm here for some ideas. The RWD uses the same deck as the AWD model. That's a problem.!! For those that keep their machinesite clean, you'll understand. The belt opening for the AWD allows grass and all to collect under the front "Hood". (I call it)
Any suggestions for covering the hole.??? Going g to try and load pics.
Thanks in advance....
Well, I'll try and reply with pics.

When you make a post, there is a "manage attachments" button in the "additional options" panel that allows you to attach images. It's below the "submit reply" button.

Oh great... thanks!
Sooo, I tried to do that on this post under additional options and it's not letting me. Does the pic have to be in my album on this site, or should / would it open my photo album on my devise?

Should be able to open it from your device. You may need more posts though.

So..... I think I've got the pics...
The grass enters "the hood" from the awd belt hole under the muffler. To clean it out, 4 metal large thread screws are under the deck, and have to be removed. Pain in the arss..!!

Wow, that is a complex opening. I'm not entirely sure how they designed that even with 3D modeling. The only suggestion I have is pieces of sheet metal and a welder. Sneak up on it a piece at a time. I can't believe they don't make that deck solid for the RWD version.

Wow, thanks for posting. I have the same mower and did not realize all those clippings would get trapped in there!

Try duct tape over the opening and put the cover back on. Mow a couple times and see if that stops it. If it does then redo the duct tape every once in a while or go with mantools idea of a sheet metal plate over the opening and put the plastic cover back on.

Hey all.... DANG, THANKS FOR ALL THE REPLIES.!!
So I've covered the hole with a precise cut piece of thick Flex tape. I'm sure the duct tape (thanks kelpaso1) would have worked too, but thought how could I have stopped grass from sticking to that. The flex tape, I paled back about 1/4 inch all around so to stick to mower, yet not have stick covering the hole. Success..!! That has eliminated grass under "the hood" for the most part. I'm going to have to cover the front hole as well.
I'll get back with the results in a day or two.
Again, thanks everyone.!!

So just a follow up. The flex tape has worked perfect and has eliminated 99.9% of grass under the hood. No need to cover the front hole.
Thanks again to ya, for sure. ))
