Does anyone have any feedback on the Hitachi 1/2" Impact Wrench WR18DBDL2P4 ?

I already have the Hitachi 18v batteries and charger, so it's tempting to avoid the battery/charger sprawl.

I'm a home user. It'll get used around the house, like for deck bolts, swing sets, and the occasional tire rotation.

I have the whole Hitachi 10.8v lineup, and I love them all. I know that doesn't help since it's not the model you are looking at, but I am a big Hitachi fanboy, lol. The 10.8 obviously isn't for lugnuts and deck bolts, it's for smaller jobs. But I have used it for 1000s of fasteners for years on end, dropped it on the concrete floor several times, and it just keeps on going.

I never tried any of the 18v lineup, but I'd like to. Let me know how it works out if you end up getting one.

Though rated just slightly higher it is pretty much in the same class as the Milwaukee 55b compact which I have or the Makita which I have seen videos showing one that is even a bit quicker releasing a series of torqued nuts series.

For the most part compact wrenches will do passenger car tire lugs in good condition. But not always and may struggle on seized up or abused stuff like on light trucks. Though sometimes with enough effort and repeated blasts it will free up. I do find the new mid torques vastly superior for not much weight or size difference.

Handy to have one though and being that you already are on the platform does seem the logical choice for a compact impact wrench.

I just ordered it. We'll see how it does.

It was a tough choice over the Earthquake and some other units, but I appreciated the lifetime tool warranty that Hitachi offers and that I don't have more batteries/chargers to worry about.

Good choice, I've had a Hitachi impact driver and drill driver 18v li-ion, for probably 6/7 years. Both have been faultless, and I'm trade, they have been used day in day out, beyond what they are designed for and show no signs in giving up.

I loved my Gen 1 Lithium Ion 18v set. We dont even get the top tier Hitachi stuff in the USA. Go find the Japanese Hitachi site and drool over some of that gear.

IMO Hitachi offers one of the best bang : buck lines out.

Keep us posted.

The Hitachi name well known ... and they're going to abandon that large marketing edge?

In the end, I don't care much, as long as my tools are supported and the quality is maintained.

I received the wrench today. A quick test shows it'll break free lug nuts (Honda M14) that were torqued to 80-100 ft/lbs - easily. At 110-120 ft/lbs, it has to work on it for a bit, but they'll break free after 3-5 seconds.

Size wise, it's great. It's actually stubbier than my 1/4" impact driver (WH18DGL).
