Met up with SmokeShadow today to do a little swapping and hit the Branch 15 swap. It was a nice cool day at 78, perfect for wandering around looking at stationary engines and buying junk. Here is my haul:
20180622_133130.jpg
Lets see, Proto brass hammer for $15, Central tools angle adjuster (?) $1, Heritage era box with Craftsman, Snap-on and MAC sockets for $3, Herbrand box with ratchet, extension and 2 sockets $10, InteRapid dial indicator for $5, Proto LA driver $2, Billy Club $5, Blackhawk drain wrench $2, APEX net driver set 2.50 Arisan ratchet for $2 (not pictured an SK 1/4 rat for .50)
20180622_133141.jpg
Brown and Sharp '76 catalog $10
20180622_141330.jpg
Oak office chair for my roll-top for $25. Not too bad altogether!
Also spotted this:

And there are always interesting tractors around

I nice quick trip out and back, to an Estate sale. I passed on a smaller RI stationary vise as it was too high.

but I did find a good selection of older tools for only a fin!

The old hose end is my seventh or eighth, these are easy to restore as it's an O ring and a hose washer for generally good as new!

SO 15" extension & ratchet, Duro, (refrigeration?) ratchet and extension, A P&C extension with WF on it! (I don't think I've ever seen WF other than Plvmb...), Plvmb Combo and slider T, and the wire forming pliers are... ME-KAN-IK :D and No. 250-5 (Utica maybe?) the Screw Starter, a nice short one, so my be useful in tight quarters.

Lastly a Heller Bros, Masterench in 6" I believe this to be their smallest, and its one I didn't have so YAY! I LIKE these better than any crescent/adjustable wrench!

& Williams box
What drive size is it for?! I have been looking for a Williams box for a 3/8-inch drive set. That is a 50's box and I am looking for a 40's box, but I swear if I saw a 50's box I would take it, if only as a placeholder. I rarely get frustrated, but this particular hunt is getting me frustrated.

That is a sweet find.

Also spotted this:
Is that the same bike someone posted last week?! They're multiplying in the Northwest.

P&C, which was owned by Plomb throughout the war, made some for Plomb's US Army Air Corps contracts, and they also had their own contract with the US Army Air Corps.

I don't think so, but VERY similar!

I think the one from last week was technically a Moped! at first I'm thinking "Maybe the first one?" but then reconsidering the evolution of the Motorcycle, probably many early motorcycles were Mopeds with both engine and pedals.

It is an M-2 box which makes me believe it is for 1/4" drive tools.A 3/8" B52 ratchet will fit diagonally ,but a 1/2" M-1216 and 7/16" M-1214 are pictured for reference. I don't think you would get many if any 3/8" sockets in the tray ,but I have no Williams to try.

You guys know I post some LEFT-BEHIND category photos from time to time... Well, I was sorely tempted to buy this TRUE TEMPER TOOLS hardware store display rack this morning, but I didn't. First of all, because it was more than I was willing to spend. But also because it looks like it was for rakes and garden tools and such. If the brackets up top and on the bottom were big enough for an axe handle and head, respectively, and if that space was less than 36" (the length of the axes I collect), or if it would hold shovels, I would've probably sprung for it.

Oh, and you see that hand truck behind it? That's the hand truck I didn't buy a few weeks ago when I bought the West Bend. Same seller with a whole new load of stuff, and some stuff from last week, from the same old hardware store

This is why I pick up sandpaper as cheap as I can at yard sale... I have two of those plastic file boxes for pendaflex folders full now. (as well as a good supply of Steel wool in most "grits". Most are sheaves of 50 or 100, the smaller amounts are in pendaflex folders.

Nice finds BTW!

RT nice save on the box! Look inside the drawer front in the label position inside and you may find a date code.

I got out to an estate sale late morning, but still need to take pics...

They make "box bottom" pendaflex folders that have reinforced, flat bottoms that will probably hold full sheaves of sandpaper. Perhaps two or more.

I’ve been getting a lot of good stuff lately but can’t post pics!

Posting pics 101:

Start from the "Go Advanced" posting menus, or the "Post Reply" button near the bottom of any page, (Or hit the "paperclip" button to get to the upload popup); and at step 5 copy it into the URL field after hitting the "postcard" button: (Step 4/5 is optional; you will still have thumbnails)

At a garage sale today I found a small can full of Blackhawk sockets. They looked interesting, and the price was right, so I bought them. Tonight I cleaned the grease off them and got the numbers. They are Blackhawk "Nugget" 7/16" drive.

35116 1/2 12-pt.

Hit up a few sales this morning. Not much but grabbed this box of randoms. Guy told me to fill it up and he'd give me a good deal. There was an old rusty tool box in the nasty basement and I grabbed all of the chrome I saw without really looking at them. He told me $25 and I took a shot. Just looked through and it's all Craftsman V sockets and I found a Mac 1/4" ratchet. Not too shabby.

And thanks for the P&C contract info Lugz!

Well, they didn't really have mopeds as such back then or at least the term was not used. Many motorcycle manufacturers started out as bicycle companies first and made the transition. In the heyday there were over 400 motorcycle companies operating but we typically remember Harley, Indian, Henderson and a few others.
The bike from the previous post (last week) is either a very bad fake attempt or an old home made replica that someone enjoyed. Either way it should not be represented as a real Indian. This later bike pictured looks to be the real deal circa 1910, give or take. It's got the correct style frame, fork and suspension and a V-twin that Indian introduced in 1907. That looks to be a very cool motorcycle and if numbers were verified would be very valuable especially if it's a true survivor with original paint.

Not sure what's going on around here, but its been so DEAD for yard sales!
Last weekend was Fathers day so I get tht it could be slower. This weekend its nice weather maybe a bit warm, but a far cry from a heat wave.

I had two stops and those were a stretch. One got me metal file box that I'll use for Steel wool storage making the second plastic box 100% available for sandpaper.

attachment.php

I also picked up two medium size glazed flower pots for SWMBO tha tIO didn't get pics of. 5 bucks for everything.

I had to make a trip out about ten miles and while there saw signs for a "flea market" at a mobile home park and stopped there. Slim pickings but I did get this Craftsman Deep socket set, barely been used, with the metal tray for $2

attachment.php

Then I found this 50 CAl Ammo can used for fuses, for $3.

attachment.php

I took surface streets instead of he freeway as it was socked in with traffic, adn I didn't see a single dang TOO! Not one! Almost that bad on the normal YS run too. Usually there are dozens, and man its a desert out there for yard sales. :dunno:

Went out for a while, nothing too great, $22 for everything and some stuff not pictured. I popped open the SK, to my surprise as soon as I hit it with a pass from the wire brush the thing exploded and turns out it was cracked. Lemons to lemonade and all that I decided to just lop off the broken section from the rest of the anvil with the hacksaw. Filed it down and made myself a socket spinner, might go find an o-ring and putt it in the groove for a little more grip. The failure on the mechanism seems odd, could it have been a legitimate manufacturing defect to cause it to split like that? The teeth are decent so it it seems odd the case holding the mechanism went before the pawl or teeth in the head. Williams b52 that some idiot drilled a few holes in, no idea why. Like a 1/16 hole in the handle, a partial 1/4 hole in the handle too and another small partial hole in the beam. Dipped it in some waste oil and it seems to be working fine though.
2 pairs of channel locks in pretty decent shape, a 10 or so inch 3/8 v series craftsman breaker, forgot to pull it out of the box. 100 ft extension cord and a 20 foot, 100 foot needs a new plug.
The drill is what I really needed, Milwaukee magnum with a keyless ratcheting chuck when they were still made over here. Tested it out with a 1 1/2 spade, made quick work of the plywood. I have 4 or 5 corded drills, but all of them are 3/8 chucks and the cordless I have has a 1/2 chuck, but lacks the guts for metal or large bits, Which I had a handle for it though

Now I know why people call those type transfer pumps garbage, couldn't even get a bit of water out the pool. :lol_hitti

I hate driving in this city so much, I think I'm gonna just find a few sales out in the boonies that have some stuff I need like some stationary shop equipment or more specialized stuff instead of driving around the city looking for scraps.

Revisited yesterday's garage sale and found a few more things. Set of metric thorsen combos missing the 9, proto adjustable, 3/8 =v= breaker bar and some odd ball =v= sockets I didn't have yet.

Nice finds, Dan. Plenty of Thorsen to be found on the West Coast!
Since I was back in the Bay Area for a few days I checked out a couple of sales close to home. The only find at the first sale was a Fluke automotive meter. The next sale was in the hills above UC and there was a mix of old stuff to be found. Although I don’t know how old it is, I just couldn’t pass on the working Craftsman compressor. The early timing light was cool too.

"I'm bad, I'm Nationwide"
Here are a few of the things I picked earlier today at a couple sales.
The highlights among the bunch include a knurled SK 4V118 1/2" dr 9/16" Ford V8 connecting rod socket that will fill a hole in my set. A knurled New Britain 1/2" dr 13/16" deep socket with no part number. My first circle U (Plomb) Craftsman socket I thought was a BE but found out differently after cleaning. Probably means I'll have to start working on a full circle U set now. And finally an old wood handled JPD 10" pipe wrench that cleaned up really nicely.

Nice finds guys!

Don, better pics of the compressor? There is also a thread on those...

I only had a chance to take a few as I’m getting ready to head out of town. Can you provide a link to that compressor thread? Edit—got it and posted pictures. Thanks,
Here are a couple more pictures of my finds today.

Here is my minor haul from an estate auction today. Still need to ID a few things. Not sure what partial machine is left mounted to the stand. I got it for $5 and figured I'd reuse the stand somehow for that price. Spent about $60 on everything today. One of the planes was cracked in two but it almost looks like it could be repaired. It was a tough sale to buy at. Several guys where bidding strong on stuff. If there is a thread to help ID the wrenched please LMK. I took a few better pics of those as well.

Ben the partial machine is a base for a titling table, table saw. The hand crank moves the table up and down. Missing pieces clamp the missing table level or an an angle.

Thanks, I may re-purpose it somehow. May mount a couple tools on it or something.

Didn't make it to any sales this weekend, but picked up a few decent items from antique stores earlier in the week and a 24 drawer reak room locker from my neighbor for $40. Moving the 6 by 4 foot locker into the basement workshop took care of the exercise for the day.

Craftsman and Dunlap 4 drawer organizers filled with hardware and bits for $30.

SK 1/4 socket box for $7

Lufkin wood micrometer box for $5

Millers Falls folding wood ruler for $6 that looks like it has barely been used.

Now I get to start filling the locker.20180623_171444.jpg20180623_171451.jpgIMG_20180621_085425_116.jpgIMG_20180621_085425_115.jpgIMG_20180621_084225.jpegIMG_20180621_085425_118.jpgIMG_20180618_171659_538.jpgIMG_20180618_171659_525.jpg

Picked up a couple fish scales for $1.00 each. I passed on a couple other items. The wife made out good though this round with her finds.

1. Zebco Fishermans De-Liar, Model 228 Scale and Tape Measure. Made in USA

2. Picman Fish-Mate, Scale, Knife & Tape Measure. Made in USA

Spent 9 dollars at auction today. Stuff on the purple is what I am keeping, the rest plan on moving along one way or other. But could use help identifying what two of the pieces are for. One the cute little clamp. And hole punch that I initially thought was a chain break.
