Learn something new department (for me, anyway!): When Sears has a minimum out of pocket spend amount to qualify for a FreeCash Bonus, like the current $125 to get a $125 Bonus, the minimum out of pocket amount must be on merchandise and does not include sales tax.

Long story short, on June 20 I placed an order through online chat to replace an order on which Sears had created delivery issues by trying to deliver through a closing store. The price had nearly doubled but online chat allowed me to reorder at the lower, original price. I also confirmed that my reorder would qualify for the then current $50 bonus. The chat rep incorrectly assured me that it would qualify. My credit card was charged about $130 after about $18 in points were applied. The points lowered the merchandise cost to about $122.

Today customer service reviewed the matter, acknowledged that the chat rep had incorrectly assured me that the order qualified, and issued me a $50 point bonus after describing the details to me. The chat transcript certainly helped too!

Glad you got it straightened out. The Sears system has so many little gotchas/by-the-ways, it's not surprising most casual shoppers don't want to bother dealing with it. I believe I have occasionally mentioned the OOP pre-tax distinction when talking about offer requirements, but not always.

For some reason the option to request an emailed transcript in the chat always fails for me (the whole chat area completely vanishes when I try clicking that option, too, so I'd better be all done chatting before trying it, lol), but I'd copy and paste it into a text file myself if it were something important going on like that.

I learned yesterday why my last chat price-matching attempt a few weeks ago got shorted, BTW... I got some of the points back that the chat rep claimed she was giving me, but not all of them... The problem is that the chat reps' system for refunding points doesn't distinguish between regular points spent and point-values that came from redeeming a freecash surprise points offer in that order, but the latter type of points just vanish into the ether when they unwittingly try to refund some of those on an already-expired offer. The thing to do, which I wish I'd realized at the time, is check your points totals in another tab while still in the chat, after they claim they've refunded x amount, and tell the rep immediately if you lost some due to the freecash problem. Then they will manually re-refund the missing amount to get you back to the expected total.

I got three $1 wins on Monday... I thought I'd already posted about the first two, but I guess I never hit the 'post' button on it earlier.

It was a Win List app-only spin, either the 11am or the 1pm WW Xtra, and one of the rare $1 wins in one of the regular Xtra games where most prizes are $0.05-$0.10.

Then I spent it all, so it's time to start re-accumulating.

Yes, it has always been that way and is stated that way in the T&C.

Pretty much all stores do it that way.

Last week I did not get the Sweeps Weekly email. My account has ~$70. I bought a knipex this week to reduce my balance, and they send me Sweeps Weekly email again. Life is back to normal  Now gotta find something to buy :bounce:

I can't think of something I need right now, so I'll probably blow the $5 freecash on these cheapo organizers:

Stanley Large Parts Organizer with Bonus Small Organizer $6.88

Or maybe start buying one of these each week, so I'll eventually have several to connect together:

Stanley STST14022 SortMaster Junior Organizer $7.20

Yeah, they always ask me to check my point total to see if it applied correctly while I'm chatting with them. Fingers crossed no issues thus far...

Here you go: WED$onFire

My Wednesday has definitely not been 'on fire' with wins so far, but at least they came through with that extra nickel. :p

Update: Total wins for the day, playing every possible game, was less than a dollar... particularly lame for a Wednesday.

I won the 2-3pm CT $2 WW Xtra game, but haven't been able to play the last couple of app-only bonus games today (the first two today worked fine), my Trends tab refuses to turn back into the Bonus tab. :(

I had the same issue a few days ago, I had to go clear the app cache and force stop the app.

I tried signing out/in and closing/reopening the app (after trying tapping the number of points, which is usually sufficient to trigger it), but didn't think to clear the cache, doh. Thanks, I'll try that if it's still acting up on Friday. :)

Carrying over from the other thread:
That's what I usually search for on the search spin game. Oh, another sweet tool, the 1/2", well that's usually the cheapest, Wera Zyklop ratchet.

Yeah, I've been trying for Wera products on those lately too. I used to search 'FLIR' for some fancy thermal imaging cameras and moisture meters, but they removed those from the available products a couple weeks ago, and I needed another short-to-type name. ;)

--------------

As usual, I lost. Instead of the $5 off $5 FreeCash that’s been in the Weekly email, this week mine is $4 off a $25 purchase. But, since it’s the only FreeCash I currently have I might use it.

I might skip it.

I figured they reversed course after the $6 off $15 weeks because there was a steep reduction in the people taking advantage of the Sweeps Weekly freecash. :dunno:

Yeah, $4 off $25 is pretty lame. I'll have to see how many points I win in the next few days to put with it, I've only got about $10 so far.

Edit: Oh, another thought, if I end up without enough points to cover the rest, it could be an opportunity to finally try for that $10 back on $10+ OOP vehicle pickup (ends 7/10).

Kmart is doing a spend $60 get $20, $20 & $20 back.

Nice. This is based on your OOP pre-tax total, as with all these deals. Here's the full terms:

" Members get $60 CASHBACK in points when you spend $60 or more at Kmart.com.
Expires 07/28/2018
Offer Valid 7/8/18 – 7/28/18. $20 in points issued next day and valid for 14 days. Second installment of $20 in points issued on 8/12/18 and are valid for 14 days. Third installment of $20 in points issued on 8/26/18 and valid for 14 days. Max $60 total in points per member. Excludes Pharmacy, grocery, alcohol, tobacco, pet products, paper products, cleaning supplies, laundry care, air care, diapers, baby wipes, food storage, garbage bags, healthcare, beauty, stationery, batteries, books & magazines, greeting cards, and party supplies. Offer not valid any other offer. Purchase requirement before taxes and after other discounts and must be made in a single transaction. By accepting Shop Your Way member benefits and offers, you agree to the Shop Your Way terms and conditions, available at www.shopyourway.com/terms. Members earn points on qualifying purchases, excluding sales taxes and other fees. Extra points are inclusive of, and not in addition to, any base points earned on qualifying purchases. When extra point offers are combined, total points earned will be less than the combined point totals for each individual offer."

For those who still have a local Kmart, reports on SD are that even Kmart (which had reportedly remained generous last month while Sears had already dried up) has mostly stopped giving coupons/offers on the receipt printouts in the last week or so. :(

Also, this today: "I realized most of my toiletries are now only offered through Target, where I cannot use my points. I just made a points purchase [of these items at Kmart] two months ago, so I know it happened in that time frame. Big brands and popular products - Old Spice, Biotrue, Oral-B, Listerine - all no longer sold from KMart."

FYI if the app doesn't work for In-Vehicle Pickup, when you walk in ask for the support manager, they can add the 10$ pickup points to your account using their terminal. I've had to do it this way 3 times, and the points don't expire for 12 months.:bounce:

so i just signed up for shop your way when i bought a new 54" blue Tool chest from sears on July 4th. apparently i got $125 points for spending over $125, but looks like they give them to you every month in smaller quantities instead of all at once? why make it so confusing?

Yes, that's how that offer works, and how a lot of the big-points-back offers have worked for the last several months. (The Kmart one we were just talking about is another example.) They're trying to keep you coming back more, spending OOP overage each time.

The app didn't recognize I was parked at a sears store. On 2 different phones... So I ended up having to go inside and do a manual pickup. Apparently it's an issue often enough that have the process down at my local store.
