What is a rotary drill?

This drill from makita might not be used in the US. Do you know how it differs compared with other drills?

Is it a hammer drill? Most times drill manufacturers will sell their hammer drills as “Rotary Hammer Drills”.

The mechanism in a "Rotary Hammer" is different from the mechanism in a "Hammer drill".

I agree with others, these are regular drills. Just a difference in geographic location.

We actually have three types here. The rotary drill that just....rotates.

The rotary hammer drill that rotates and hanmers and usually can deselect the hammer action.

The SDS+, that just hammers. It makes a hole so they call it a drill, too.

LMFAO... no it appears for hammer drills they call it Rotary Hammer... ( that incldes sds+ / sds max stuff...),, either case still a rotary in front.... your tomato, his potatoe , my potomatooo.

Whenever I see a rotary drill in a power tool catalog, it's always a hammer drill with a spline drive chuck for taking spline drive implements. I just thought it was a hammer drill for big stuff.
