BB, will those filter mounts take a (fairly standard) PH8A oil filter? if so also good for remote oil filter setup.

Takes a much bigger filter with 1"-12 threads and a 3.555 OD O-ring. I looked at Wix oil filters by dimension and nothing close.

Guess fuel only! Some of the available fuel filters have a built in water drain valve too.

Well, if you have a recirculating solvent tank it would be good for that too...

Mine uses a (Modified) TP oil filter to get the worst out...

Hit estate and garage sales Th-F-S and picked up the following:
20180714_124411.jpg
This was long C, and in the next pic there is a long c countersink for a brace
20180714_124157.jpg
Toolbox for $5 plus misc. from the next sale I went to for another $5
20180714_125148.jpg
A set of P&C 8-point, metric thread pitch gauge, and a few other good sockets and a set of chassis punches from the toolbox.
20180714_125513.jpg
Drove too far for a sale of Harbor Freight, but managed to find these for $5
20180714_125733.jpg
A trailer park was having a bunch of sales, managed to find these for (you guessed it) $5
20180714_131342.jpg
Best thing I found, and if you look closely, it is already labeled! $15 (Also got some old fruit packing crate labels for the wife for free) But that was a depressing sale, not because they were desperate or anything, but so much cool stuff was not for sale.

Went back to the going out of business sale today and picked up a 50 ft. air hose reel, a wheel for my barrow and a handful of tools and sandpaper. Have to give the family (owners) running the sale credit. Very nice folks, very fair and a lot of hard work.

After being shut out at the Tahoe flea today, I stopped by an ongoing tool sale posted on Craigslist to see if I missed anything last year. I found a few items. I hadn’t heard of the Allen wrench manufacturer. I also received a nice circa 1960 Barcalo DBE from GJ member Toothaker which was missing from the Barcalo shrine.

Not near as much as I had planned to, as my left shoulder is giving me a new piece of grief... Mostly put stuff away and cleaned some stuff up. Even that was painful at times... Oddest things make it give me a twinge of pain, like moving the signal light selector while driving? :wtf:

So now there are two hing getting me on the left arm shoulder point and elbow point... Trying the Tens device on the shoulder...

Did not have any time this weekend. Ran away for a short time on Sa to a yard sale less than 4 miles away from home (while the family was sleeping):

I got the following:
Knife with 11 tools (can not recall the brand, saw them before)
Craftsman Wrenches:
-V- : 1-15/16, 3/4-5/8, 1/2-9/16 (last one has a lot of spots)
=V= :3/4-7/8 (a lot of surface pitted)
-VV- 3/8
-VA- 3/8
Proto Challenger 12 mm (exciting - great condition, first Proto for me)
3/8 no name extension
Craftsman socket set, 3/8. The whole set is-G- except for the ratchet which is VN plaging it at Dahler production between 1999 and 2001
Tiny C-clamp from Cincinnati Tool Co #51 Super jr
Crescent Crestoloy 6" adjustable (need to read more on this company)
small punch (made in USA)
and a Utica Nail puller (will make a perfect tool box straigtening tool once I find somebody with a welder (want to have the same one as designed by our member Outlawmws). It has some indentations on top (left sides of both jaws next to straight rite side of the opposite jaw - might be part of design, but doubt it) - thus will give this tool a new life after modification.

Was a good sale weekend.

Only thing I have pictures of is the Craftsman grinder I bought for $10. I'm not into these, but the local buy and sell guy will give me $20 or so for it if I want to get ride of it. I know these are worshiped on GJ, but that was the least of the things I got this weekend.
attachment.php

At the same sale, I got a box of taps, maybe 8 or 10 smaller boxes in it, 5 or 6 in a box, in gunsmith sizes (6-32, 6-40, etc). I can use those. The box also had a set of parallels in it; and I paid $5. Bought a nice 90 degree clamping fixture for $5. At another sale got two 1/0 welding leads with terminals, 75' each in length, and he threw in a set of shorter leads with ground clamp and old beat up electrode holder for $80 total. I'm going to scrap out my old ones that are cracking, will get about that out of the scrap copper in the old ones. Yet another sale, got a dozen miscellaneous tools at $1 each, there were three Jorgensen bar clamps in that, and a 2 pound hammer in new condition, and a tapcon installation kit with about 15 carbide bits in it. Also got an Estwing hatchet in new condition for $3. At a non-tool estate sale got a nice antique dresser with mirror for $40. At another sale, a 1930's Smith and Wesson catalog for $3. But, the crowning acquisition of the day was something I've been looking for a long time. Got a Griswold #14 skillet in excellent condition for $50. Grinders, hammers, clamps, tools I can find anytime, and have too many already. A #14 Griswold is not something you commonly encounter.

Was actually not out very early on Saturday; cost me in missed tools. The grinder and machinist stuff came from the sale on Elkhorn, I was there at 8:15 or so, someone ahead of me had a pile on a table that was half a pickup full of tools. He got most of the machinist stuff. I'd started on the north end of town, should have started on the south this weekend. Never know which is best. The rest of the stuff came from sales all over, one or two items at each sale.

I did pretty well this weekend. We had a local 5 mile neighborhood sale going. I picked up the Skill 77 type 14, it needs a little TLC but it's going to be a nice user when I get done. I grabbed the Dunlap torch to make into another project. Somebody please pipe up if I am destroying something overly valuable.

The real gem of the day was this Hilti hammer drill set. The owner said it from the 80s. I did a little research and I think this one might have been made by Metabo? It is stamped W. Germany behind the chuck. I know Hilti is good but I am not familiar with this style of drill. It doesnt have the SDS style chuck. Anyone with info I'd love to know about it. I paid $15.

I also took home a nice chunk of railroad track, a small lead hammer, and a Garmin GPS.

Made trip to the local flea sat and sun. got some pretty good stuff. This time, I was getting ready to leave and noticed a guy had set up on the back side where hardly anyone is. I went ahead and went over. Glad I did. got a couple of Snap-On drivers for a $1 each and a pair of P&C pliers for $2. I think well that's all the tools he's got worth a darn. I start walking away and notice a 5-gallon bucket with some older cordless tools. I see an older Dewalt drill that actually has a charger and battery. I dig it out. While pulling out of the bucket o junk I see a Smaller Makita driver. I grab it also and it has a tiny bit of juice still in it. No charger to be found. Ask the guy about them, he says $5 for the DeWalt, and $2 for the one with no charger. DEAL. It is older but I'll replace the cells in the battery and have a drill to leave at my daughter's house. Also, got to use the exact Makita at work today and that thing is a beast! ORdered a charger for $17 off Amazon. Happy with my finds.

S-52 Super ratchet
4272 Duro Chrome - does anyone knows how to clean this. The red paint outside (not too worry about it), but also internally. It has two screws so seems easy to disassemble, but I am new at this and do not want to screw up anything.

Nice finds. The red paint on the outside will wipe right off with a little acetone on a paper towel. I haven't taken that exact ratchet apart, but it looks very similar to most the pear heads I have. Watch a Youtube video on how to take apart a Proto or Plomb ratchet that is similar and you will get the idea of it. Usually very simple. a Gear, two Pawls, and a couple spings. Word of advice, get a small little bread pan or something so you can put the little parts in when you have them out. I'm clumsy and knock those little springs off the table and into the abyss.

Better still take the cover off inside a plastic bag. those springs can launch and disappear quick!

Good tip with the plastic bag. I watched a little spring sail over my head this weekend into the depths of my messy garage.

Been buried at work and with family responsibilities so minimal time to get out this season. Was able to steal away for an hour or so yesterday to get my fix.

All found a few blocks from the house.

Williams SAE line wrench set with a couple additions. For some reason the pouch is not the correct one for the set.

View media item 84965

Williams ratchets 3/8" B-54, B-52 and two 1/4" M-52's & Lufkin Radius gauges

I've yet to run across a b-54. I may have to cough up the cash if I find one on ebay.

A rare joint Spanish-American company! :lol_hitti

Perfect Handle?
If you mean that is what is literally stamped on the shank of that screwdriver with the wooden scales riveted through the integral steel handle in Photo 1, it was made by H.D. Smith, who first patented the design and gave it its street name. If you're using the street name generically and there is no marking on the shank or scales, it could be wartime, probably Irwin. In the 40's they were being branded with ink stamps on the wood.

Oops. “Barcalo-Buffalo”. Was sleepy. Did not yet clean/inspect the perfect handle.

I just tried their toll free number...

"For more information, call Emerson at (800) 511-2628 anytime..."

but apparently "anytime" means Tues-Fri, 8-5 CST. They should have an authoritative answer that I think is relevant for this thread as many on here stumble across RASs regularly and would like to know.

...

That number is "no longer in service". FYI.

Got to stop at a few yard sales this past weekend. A nice dude was willing to let a couple old tool boxes go. Scored a Craftsman air compressor for $10 and a Ridgid generator that was new for $275. It's not old and cool bit I have needed one for awhile now.

I really like the boxes. One is going to be the boys tool box so they can stay out of dads lol.

Well, aint that nice. And it would match my drill-press too. And it's free.

Unfortunately, it is also on the opposite side of the country. :(

I don't know a lot about band-saws, but I will buy/make one someday. This model is 103.24260, any good?

Thanks! Really appreciate the advice

Better still take the cover off inside a plastic bag. those springs can launch and disappear quick!

Great idea!

Todays haul, Plus my Plomb ignition pliers for comparison. The badly sanded Plomb 9/16 combo was a freebie. Its so bad Im not sure what they were trying to do, but they did mostly cover their handiwork with duct tape long ago. This is my first name knurl pliers, and they are in good functional condition

NP, that acetone works well to wipe paint off just about anything, but it wil take the original finish off also if not careful.

A rare joint Spanish-American company! :lol_hitti

****** hell they are being reproduced offshore! https://www.garrettwade.com/extra-heavy-duty-screwdriver-set-gp.html
