It would not be sears making a come back if there were now craftsman tools made in the us — didn’t sears sell craftsman?

That’s a very old “V” ratchet.

It looks like it’s been knocked around a bit.

My guess is someone either bought a new ratchet and then returned an old busted ratchet and the clerk at the store didn’t know what they were looking at. Or, a ratchet got brought in for warranty exchange and the store was dumb and put it back on the shelf.

There's never been a shortage of refurbished ratchets sold just like that. 'Sears Outlet' stores will get a bunch in every now and then and put them for sale. There's always a bunch of them for sale on ebay. Usually the seller will acknowledge its a refurb, but not always.

Will Sears just go out of business AND GET THIS OVER WITH. Somebody needs to shot this dog in the head and bury it.

Forget that! I love my Sears. I stop by at least once a week just to see what they have on clearance. I walk out of there half the time with tools I got for FREE after applying their points and FREECASH promotions, the other half I've gotten a large percentage off, much of it was 'made in USA'. Sears is literally giving tools away to everyone who signs up to their free 'Shop Your Way' program, and as long as they keep doing so I hope they stay open forever.

Here's just some of my Craftsman tools I've acquired over the last ~35 years or so (and that's just the hand tools)...

Upward of 95% of the tools in those pics are Craftsman, some older USA-made and some new from wherever. And that's nowhere near all of them. That's just what I took in a few minutes walking around the garage and the shop.

I hope to get a lot more from Sears before all is said and done. At least for now Sears' Craftsman tool line is better than Stanley's so far and costs less.

Yes it is a refurb. Has to be. It is most definitely not even close to new. It's beat all to hell.

Either that or else someone just stuck an old ratchet in the new packaging just for shits and giggles.

The first line of text above the barcode looks like it could say Made in China.

That's a used ratchet in new packaging - not even rebuilt.

Many of us still shop at sears. Amazing deals can be had if you utilize their points system. Can get things free or close to it. So we prefer Sears to stick around.

I finally see the picture now. Thank you. That is definitely not a new ratchet. That thing has had a rough life the last 30 or so years.

I'm hoping the O.P. put that wrench in that hanger for trolling purposes. I would hate to think anyone would believe that was a new ratchet.

In the OP?
There are three images, hosted at imgur which is wonky with GJ. You can go see them yourself here ...

And after you do once you get imgur's cookie you might then be able to see the images in the OP. Weird how that works sometimes.

I wasn't seeing anything on the original post. (links included). But if I hovered over the title on the "General Tool Discussion" it showed that there was three i.imgur images. I clicked on one of your links above and removed the "i." I could see the image, and also see it in the original post. So yes the imgur's are a little wonky with GJ.
