Commerical door opener stop?

I have been trying to figure this out for awhile My shop garage door uses a simple one button remote, on the wall is a three button switch..

I would like to figure out how to stop the door from going all the way up when I use the remote. The heat just whips out the door in the winter ( 12 ft door)

Is there a limiter switch I can place somewhere I can stop half way and switch back if a large truck is coming in?
The opener is 15? years old. Not real high tech
I have a great electrician

If you take the cover off there should be a up and Down limit adjusters. Not hard to do. Take your remote with you and keep your ladder and yourself out of the line of travel.

Liftmaster sells an add on remote that has 3 button remotes and can be programmed for open, stop, close. You could then manually control where it stops. Some of the newer units have an option of pre programming a partial open then an additional full open. Call them as the commercial remote systems can be used on other brands. Be sure to have the brand, model# and serial # on hand. God luck.

That's an overhead, they have a cam system for the limits, follow the small chain. They are as basic as they get. If you get me the model number and wiring type if listed I can get a diagram. May even have them online. They use a series of jumpers for different wiring types and dont have all the fancy relays like modern openers but I think you can still do a mid stop on them, which is what your asking about.

Tha opener should have spare limit switch and cam. You might be able to wire the full open limit switch and spare as a midstop down to a switch for full or half open. I think you would only need to wire the n/o side of the spare to the n/o side of the open switch. Then run 3 wires to a double throw switch. Main common on vent pole and the other 2 commons on opposing poles. Power should go to what ever limit switch the toggle switch is set on. And least that's how I think it would go, its been awhile.

Yes and no. That side piece is the brake assembly. If you cut power and open the cover, you should see the limit assembly. It's a brass worm gear that should have 3 cams and 3 limit switches. 2 of the cams/limit switches are used, 1 for open 1 for close and there should be a spare that may be being used for the radio controls. I can look up the model number in my diagra book In the morning.

If you can, get a picture of the terminal board and the limit switches at full open and close.
