I received the new Griot's Garage mailer a few days ago and they are now selling USAG tools. They're not cheap, but if you have the means and just have to have some you can get them at the link above.

Before Facom they used to sell USAG and they used to sell the Ferrari F1 sets which were very popular at the time.

Growing up my dad outfitted most of his garage with Facom tools from Griots. I remember looking through the magazines as a kid, and those Ferrari tool boxes looked awesome...

I purchased a set of Facom wrenches from the Ultimate Garage and Steve discounted it because it came in a USAG holder :)

I know I'm about to get my GJ man card punched with this question. But who is USAG and why are their offerings a bit on the pricy side. To me they look like your typical lipstick on a pig geared towards the tool polishing crowd. Are they any good?

The USAG stuff i have is very very nice. To some extent, the USAG/Facom relationship is a bit like the Proto/Urrea thing, you can get the same product with either label. USAG and Facom quality are on par i think.

Instead of purchasing from Griots, I recommend Ultimate Garage. He is also a USAG dealer, a member of our forum, and I've only had excellent purchasing experiences with him!

Higher end Italian brand. Think Ducati.

Thanks for the lowdown. Guess I'll have to keep an eye open for something.

I saw USAG in several dealerships and local garages when I lived in Italy. It seemed to be the most popular brand with professional mechanics in my area.

many years ago USAG was a separate Italian made brand but, my understanding is that both Facom and USAG are owned by Stanley now. Not everything in the USAG/Facom line is European made there's some Taiwan sourced items too. The lines have merged somewhat. Ultimate Garage could probably answer your questions better.

History of the Brand

The USAG brand was established in 1926, when entrepreneur Hermann Amos built the first manufacturing plant in Gemonio, Italy under the name Utensileria Società
Anonima Gemonio.

USAG began to manufacture and operate in the professional tools sector alongside other small firms in Italy. In 1991 USAG became part of the French Group Facom Tools S.A., then of the American Group The Stanley Works and, by March 2010, of the Multi-National Group Stanley Black & Decker Inc.

In many instances, exact same tool as Facom but considerably less expensive. I’ve only bought them from steve@ultimate garage, so it may be his purchasing power that makes them cheaper

To see USAG prices (excluded VAT), open their website on italian version, or some USAG tools are cheaper 3x time than FACOM and some tools have the same prices, about quality i don't know just looked some litlle differences for (insulated screw-drivers, combination wrenches, and a multi purpose scissor.
The spare parts of USAG are similar, cheaper than facom.
